Why is press day on November 8? A different press Festival at the Expo

November 8 is the 19th China Journalists' day. Let's learn about another journalists' day at the next Expo!

November 8, 2018

Today is an ordinary day in November

But for journalists

It's a special day

It's our own festival

--China's 19th press Festival

What is a reporter?

The earth does not explode, journalists do not have holidays, the universe does not restart, journalists do not rest. In the rainy and windy Festival, reporters are on their way to the news scene when they are not at the news scene.

There are no four seasons, only two seasons. When you find the beauty and write the truth, your focus is the peak season, and you skip the off season. At this moment, I would like to pay tribute to every journalist on the road.

At the critical moment of the nation's life and death, they wield nothing as a gun; on the road ahead of the country's forge, they lift the clouds and lift the clouds.

They are the pursuers of the facts, who have been on the road, tirelessly exploring the truth of the event. They are the watchers of the times, always standing on the tide, wearing rain to promote social progress.

They are the reporters who shoulder the responsibility of morality and write articles skillfully.

They should not only record the story of the times, but also spread the sound of positive energy. They are not only the eyes of the people, but also the mouthpiece of telling Chinese stories.

Since 2000, the State Council officially approved November 8 as the press Festival, and this year is the 19th.

When you are far away, always look back at the road. This reporter's day, let's take a look at the past life and the present life of the reporter's day, and return to the original heart, so as to pay homage to journalists and those who shoulder the social conscience.

Reporter's day, a holiday without holidays

Like nurse's day, teacher's day and doctor's day, journalist's Day is one of the only four professional festivals in China. It's also a holiday.

As early as the founding of new China, the press Festival has been set up, but no specific date has been specified. On December 23, 1949, the measures of the people's Republic of China for the holidays of national annual festivals and anniversaries promulgated by the Executive Yuan clearly stipulated "press day". In the measures, the provisions for the holidays of annual festivals and anniversaries were as follows: 'other commemorative festivals, such as 27 commemoration, 54 commemoration, 77 Anti Japanese War commemoration, 815 Anti Japanese War victory commemoration, 918 commemoration, nurse's day, teacher's day There is no need to have a holiday for journalists' day and so on. '

Because there is no specific date, for a long time, the journalists in our country have not passed the press day.

Until September 18, 1999, Premier Zhu Rongji issued a new "national annual festival and Memorial Day holiday method", which was once again explicitly included in the press day, but no definite date was given.

After the promulgation of this method, journalists from all over the country have asked the all China Journalists Association about the situation, hoping to determine the specific date of the festival, and put forward many suggestions. On the basis of soliciting opinions from all walks of life, after careful study, it is considered that the Chinese documentary association represents 50000 journalists in China, and it is more appropriate to take its establishment date as the date of the press Festival, which is widely representative. After the record association of China reported this opinion, the Propaganda Department of the Central Committee and the State Council approved the date. The determination of the date of the press day reflects the affirmation of the party and the state to the contribution of journalists.

So from November 8, 2000, journalists across the country ushered in the first journalists' day. Since then, every year, the central and local governments have held various commemorative and commendatory activities to solemnly celebrate the press day.

Why is press day on November 8?

Press day is set on November 8, which has its special significance. Because this day is the founding day of China Youth Journalists Association, the predecessor of China Association of chronicles. On the evening of November 8, 1937, Fan Changjiang and other 24 people launched the "China Youth Journalists Association" in Nanjing Hotel, No. 200, Shanxi South Road, Shanghai. This organization is the United Front organization of the press under the leadership of the Communist Party of China.

Under the situation of Anti Japanese War, the "China Youth Journalists Association" emerged as the "spiritual home" of journalists. It experienced the war together with the Chinese nation and made important contributions to the Anti Japanese war.

Where there is a fight, there is the figure of "China Youth Journalists Association". Members of the "China Youth Journalists Association" replaced guns with pens and braved difficulties in front-line interviews. They also edited and published newspapers to publicize the Anti Japanese War and strengthened the confidence of the general public in victory.

In 1938, Fan Changjiang, Chen Nongfei and Hu Lanqi (from left to right) discussed their work at the Chinese Young Journalists Association in Wuhan

A number of inspiring reports came from members of the China Youth Journalists Association. Fan Changjiang, Fang dazeng and other six war reporters risked their lives to write 10 war correspondences after the July 7th incident. During the Lugouqiao Incident, Lu Yi first entered the city of Wanping. During the eight years of the Anti Japanese War, he spent about four years in the battlefield interviewing.

After the baptism of the war, the team of China Youth Journalists Association has been growing. At the end of 1938, there were more than 600 members. In November 1940, the number of members reached 1156. On April 28, 1941, the Kuomintang authorities, deterred by the social influence of the "China Youth Journalists Association", ordered the general assembly to be closed down. However, the branch of China Youth Journalists Association did not stop its activities.

Before the founding of the people's Republic of China, in September 1949, the Preparatory Committee of the all China Journalists Association was established, and the "China Youth Journalists Association" also completed its historical mission. It handed over the baton of unity and cohesion to the Chinese Journalists Association. At the same time, it also passed on the spirit of "patriotism, progress, responsibility and responsibility".

Let's wish and respect

To every journalist on the road

Happy press day!
