Will typhoon mangosteen be removed? Why is typhoon mangosteen removed?

I believe that many friends have a headache because of the impact of Typhoon No. 22 this year. The typhoon "mangosteen" is coming. Affected by "mangosteen", there is heavy rain in the south. The affected area is very large. Although mangosteen has left, the huge harm caused by it still exists. It is said that mangosteen may be removed. Why?

According to meteorological experts, "mangosteen" has great destructive power and influence, and it is likely to be removed. What does typhoon mean?

According to the rules of the World Meteorological Organization, 14 countries and regions in the Asia Pacific region will provide 140 typhoon names (10 for each country and region), which will circulate in turn and be used all the time. However, when a typhoon causes a major disaster, members of the Typhoon Committee may apply to delete the name of the tropical cyclone from the naming table. Typhoon "Dragon King" and "moranti", which caused great losses in China earlier, have been "pulled black". So far, 36 names have been removed, which will always represent the typhoon it last followed. The sequence of each name on the tropical cyclone naming table is fixed. When a name is removed, the member providing the name needs to submit a new name to fill the gap in the sequence.

This year's use of the name "mangosteen" is only the second time. If dismissed, it will be quite short-lived. It is worth mentioning that its predecessor, durian, was also removed from the list for the second time - in 2006 - due to hundreds of deaths in the Philippines. Thailand proposed its successor, mangosteen, the first time in 2013.

Too 'fierce' will be dismissed

Members of the Typhoon Committee may apply to delete the name of a tropical cyclone causing a particularly serious disaster or for other reasons. For example, typhoon "Longwang" No.19 in 2005, typhoon "Haiyan" No.30 in 2013 and typhoon "moranti" No.14 in 2016, which caused great losses to China, were officially removed because of their destructive power.

So far, 36 names have been removed, which will always represent the typhoon it last followed. The sequence of each name on the tropical cyclone naming table is fixed. When a name is removed, the member providing the name needs to submit a new name to fill the gap in the sequence.

Typhoon "mangosteen" has a "predecessor".

Durian, the 21st super typhoon in 2006, killed hundreds of people in the Philippines, making it one of the most serious disasters in Philippine history. Therefore, the Philippines proposed to remove durian at the annual meeting of Typhoon Committee held that year.

At the same time, Thailand, which provides the name of 'durian', has to submit a new name at the annual meeting of the Typhoon Committee in the next year, which is why 'mangosteen' came.

In 2017, the central meteorological station asked the public to name typhoons. In 2016, super typhoon "Haima" caused serious disasters in the Philippines. At its 49th Annual Meeting, the Typhoon Committee decided to remove its name, and China, which provided the name of "Haima", submitted a new name to fill the vacancy.
