How to water the succulent plants? How often do succulent plants water?

The watering of succulent plants has always been a puzzle for many novices. Is it better for succulent plants to water more or less? How often is it better for succulent plants to water? What are the precautions for raising succulent plants?

There are two things to know in advance: the amount and frequency of watering

It is often easy to mix these two points into a concept. The amount of watering is the amount of water to be watered each time, and the frequency of watering is the number of times to be watered, a few days or once a week.

Watering is a very complex thing. Many factors will affect watering: plant size, species, local climate, which season is spring, summer, autumn and winter, soil ratio, flower material and size, air circulation environment (indoor or outdoor). First, put aside these complex factors, just like soil mixing, sort out some of the most basic points, use a general way of watering, and then refine after you have more knowledge of plants.

1. The size of meat affects the way of watering.

The size of succulent plants is different to the way and amount of watering.

Seedlings are usually watered in a small amount and frequently. (water once a day, a little at a time, and let the soil surface wet. Because the root system of seedlings is very small, too much water can not be absorbed, but it is easy to breed bacteria or soak the root system to cause rot.)

For adult plants, the method of "one time watering enough, interval lengthening" is adopted. (pour water directly through or into 2 / 3 of the pot volume once a week or so. The root system of adult plant is robust, and it needs to absorb water to grow new leaves or restore state, so the amount of watering should be increased, but at the same time, it can not be watered frequently, which is easy to cause the phenomenon of soaking and rotting.

The old pile is generally cast in once. (it is poured once to the water outlet at the bottom of the floral organ, 1-2 times a month on average. Most of the old piles have more soil particles, and the water loss will be very fast, which is more conducive to ventilation. And the plants themselves are also lignified and less absorbed)

2. Learn to observe the fleshy state and water

As long as it is found that the leaves are wrinkled or softened, it is undoubtedly a sign of water shortage, and it needs to be watered immediately. Under normal circumstances, the plumpness can be restored in 3-5 days (12 rolls of jade dew is slower, about more than 10 days). If the plant is still not full after continuous watering, it means that the root system is bound to be poor, or the water cannot penetrate into the soil due to soil binding, so it is necessary to dig out and turn the soil again and check the root system.

3. Different seasons, different watering.

Spring and autumn are the growing seasons of succulent plants. At this time, water should be watered normally. If the weather is good, the ventilation is good, and the water volatilization speed will be accelerated, so water may be watered more frequently. For the adult plants that only need to be watered once a week, water should be watered about 3-4 days. And the old pile needs to be watered once a week.

In summer and winter, succulent plants will enter into dormancy state at high and low temperature. The root system will only keep a small amount or not absorb water at all. At this time, the watering interval needs to be lengthened. Especially in winter when the temperature is low, the normal watering once a week will become once every 15-20 days. In summer, the water volatilization rate is faster. Although the succulent people will also sleep, the specific sleep time is uncertain. Frequent and small amount of water can be used to change the original once a week to a small amount of water a week, about 1 / 3 of which is enough.

4. Soil and flower apparatus also affect watering

If there are more particles in the soil, the water permeability will be better, and the soil will dry quickly, so it needs frequent watering. However, the soft peat soil in the soil has a higher proportion, so it has better water holding capacity, and the interval between watering needs to be longer.

The influence of flower utensils is even greater. When the red pottery basin is planted with succulent plants, most of the time, it will be in a state of water shortage. Therefore, it is often found that succulent plants are in a state of fold or soft leaves, which must be water shortage. When using ceramic or plastic flowerpots for cultivation, it will be found that the fleshy people are often round and plump. The flowerpots have good water retention and are prone to rot if watered too much.

And the size and shape of the flower also have a great influence. For example, in a wide mouth shallow flowerpot, the evaporation speed of larger caliber water will be faster, and the shallow flowerpot can't store too much water, so this kind of flowerpot can be watered more frequently. However, the water storage capacity of the deeper flower pot is very large and the water volatilization is difficult, so the interval time can be longer after normal watering.
