'2017 China's happiest city' candidate cities include prefecture level and above cities and county-level cities. 93 prefecture level and above cities including Chengdu, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Xi'an, Changchun, Changsha, Tianjin, Suzhou, Beijing and Shanghai have entered the scope of investigation and selection; 100 cities including Taicang, Gaoqing, Rushan, Pizhou, Jiangyin, Kunshan and Cixi have been shortlisted as county-level cities.
Since the launch of the event in June, more than 13.95 million people have participated in public surveys, sample surveys and big data collection.
Ten cities including Chengdu, Hangzhou, Ningbo, Nanjing, Xi'an, Changchun, Changsha, Taizhou, Tongchuan and Xuzhou were selected as the 'happiest cities in China in 2017' by the organizing committee. Ten county-level cities, including Taicang City, Cixi City, Yuyao City, Pizhou City, Nanhai District, Foshan City, Kunshan City, Changsha County, Changshu City, Zhangjiagang City and Jiangyin City, were selected as' the happiest city (county level) in China in 2017 '. At the same time, the intelligent urban management of Jiangbei District of Chongqing was selected as "governance innovation model", and Binjiang New Town of Jiangjin District of Chongqing was selected as "China's ecological livable new town".
Xi'an was selected as the happiest city in 2009, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016. This is the seventh time that Xi'an won the title of "happiness", while Tongchuan was elected for the first time.
