Qian Yongxiang, deputy general manager of Provincial Railway Group, said that the South Yanjiang Intercity Railway starts from ning'anchang of Nanjing South Station of Beijing Shanghai high speed railway, passes through Jiangning District of Nanjing, Jurong City of Zhenjiang, Jintan District, Wujin District and economic development zone of Changzhou, Jiangyin City of Wuxi, Zhangjiagang City of Suzhou, Changshu and Taicang, and ends at Taicang station of Shanghai Nantong Railway (Shanghai Nantong). The new main line is 278.53 km long. There are 8 stations in the whole line, including Nanjing South Jurong Jintan Wujin Jiangyin Zhangjiagang Changshu Taicang, and they are connected to Shanghai through the first phase of Shanghai to Shanghai railway in Taicang. The total construction period of the project is 4 years. It is planned to operate 100 pairs of passenger cars per day in the short term and 130 pairs of passenger cars per day in the long term, with a minimum headway of 3 minutes.

The design speed of the South Riverside intercity railway is 350 km / h. After completion, Jurong, Jintan, Jiangyin, Zhangjiagang, Changshu, Taicang and other places along the line will enter the era of high-speed rail and integrate into the 1-hour high-speed rail circle in Shanghai and Nanjing.

At the same time, the project also approved the construction of a connecting line for the South Riverside intercity railway at Jiangning station of Nanjing Hangzhou high-speed railway. That is to say, after the railway is opened to traffic in the future, it will also stop at Jiangning station to facilitate the travel of Jiangning residents.

It is noteworthy that as the third high-speed railway between Shanghai and Nanjing, the South Riverside intercity railway will form an 'x' shaped road network with the Shanghai Nanjing intercity railway after it is opened to traffic, covering the most developed county economy in our province, and also the most densely populated city, the highest degree of urban-rural integration, and the best economic and social development foundation in our province and the Yangtze River Delta.

In addition, the South Riverside railway is about to start construction. The total investment scale of the railway under construction is about 260 billion yuan. The mileage of the railway under construction will reach 1711 km and the mileage of the high-speed railway under construction will reach 1236 km 。 Lianyungang Yanchang railway and Qingling Lianyungang railway are currently undergoing joint commissioning and trial operation, and are planned to open to traffic by the end of this year. Ningqi phase II project has completed track laying and will be open to traffic by the end of this year or early 2019. Hsu Huai Yan railway is under track laying and is scheduled to open to traffic in 2019. Lianhuai Yangzhen railway project has completed girder erection and is preparing for track laying. Wufengshan Yangtze River Bridge, the node project of the project, is planned to be opened to traffic in 2020. The high-speed railway project of Lianyungang Xuzhou railway is mainly carrying out girder erection, and it is planned to open to traffic in 2020. The first phase of Hutong railway is mainly in track laying. The North Main Tower of Hutong bridge has been capped and is planned to open to traffic in 2020. Yantong railway started in early 2018. At present, 91% of the land acquisition and demolition work has been completed. Our province is now inviting the Railway Corporation to speed up the construction of Yantong railway and strive to complete it by the end of the 13th five year plan.

Lu Yongquan said that after the high-speed railway along the south Yangtze River has been launched for a long time, our province will promote the implementation of planned railway projects as soon as possible. At present, our province is striving for the construction of a number of channel projects to optimize the road network layout, such as north Yangtze high-speed railway and Nanjing Huaihe high-speed railway, and a number of major control node projects, such as Nanjing North railway station hub and Shangyuanmen river crossing channel, next year. By 2020, the province's railway operation mileage will exceed 4000 km, of which the high-speed railway will reach about 2700 km, covering more than 70% of the county-level nodes, and it can be reached within 2 hours between all cities divided into districts.
