What do you think of the scholar's call for the resumption of May Day holiday?

In recent days, many scholars have called for the cancellation of the 11 long vacation, saying that the centralized vacation system should be adjusted and paid flexible vacation should be implemented. According to Liu Simin, a tourism sociologist, the cancellation of the golden week is a matter of paper. To solve the problem of long holiday shortage, we should increase 2-7 statutory holidays and resume the golden week of May 1st. Do you support the restoration of May Day holiday? Do you think it will be implemented?

Canceling the golden week of the 11th is a matter of paper

To be honest, according to my research, I don't agree with the view of these scholars to cancel the golden week. This view is either on paper or taken for granted. The reasons are as follows:

First, it is a false proposition to take paid leave in a compulsory way. Paid leave is one of the rights of workers stipulated in the labor law. Compared with the rights of no forced labor, no forced extension of labor time, no salary deduction, paid leave is only the right of "respect to the last seat", which is neither possible nor necessary to be enforced beyond other important interest rates. And paid leave is a kind of decentralized leave, which requires workers to talk to their bosses alone. In this respect, the weak position of workers is very obvious, which is the crux of many low-level workers' failure to enjoy paid leave.

The paid leave is well implemented in Europe and the United States, but they are very different -- the laws and regulations of paid leave in Europe are very sound, while the laws and regulations of paid leave in the United States are not specific. To some extent, it shows that the popularity of paid leave is not compulsory, it is a sign and result of a country's economic and social development to a certain extent. Under the background that our workers are generally in a weak position and many enterprises are secretly implementing the Saturday work system, it is only a slogan to talk unreal about enforcing paid leave. In fact, paid leave was written into the labor law in 1995, and the State Council issued the regulations on paid annual leave for employees in 2008. Despite the media's call for the compulsory implementation of paid leave, the implementation of paid leave is still not optimistic. Several social survey results and official data show that in the past nine years, after the golden week of May 1st was cancelled, paid leave has been implemented No substantial progress has been made.

Second, congestion during the golden week is a normal phenomenon, and tourists are 'in pain and happy'. A lot of people have called for: 'cancel the holiday! Let the holiday go with its nature, no longer transfer it artificially, and no longer block the day. "Just imagine, if we cancel the Spring Festival, there will be no more amazing Spring Festival games. If we cancel the train, every railway station area in every city can become a peaceful park. Can you also cancel the rush hour? Periodic unbalanced tidal movement is a normal phenomenon of nature and human society. The idea of eliminating congestion by canceling the golden week is actually a "planned, proportionate" development of planned economy that looks beautiful but has never been realized.

Spring festival meets the people's traditional spiritual needs for family reunion and cultural heritage, and golden week meets the growing modern spiritual needs for tourism, which are also rigid. In Europe, where paid holidays are widely implemented, the Mediterranean coast is also full of people every summer, and there will be a peak flow of people at Christmas. Why don't they travel on the wrong peak? Therefore, even if they have paid vacation, they may not be able to travel on the wrong peak. Isn't it a joke to talk about the wrong peak without paid vacation?
