The Czech Republic ranks among the countries that drink the most alcohol in the world. Each Czech drinks 13.7 liters of pure alcohol every year. The Czech Republic is also one of the countries with the largest per capita smoking in the world.

Russia is second in the list of the least healthy countries. Slovenia, Belarus, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Poland, Luxembourg and the United States are also among the top 10 least healthy countries. The United States is the only non European country in the top 10.

The healthiest country is Afghanistan. The top 10 healthiest countries are Guinea, Niger, Nepal, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Eritrea, Malawi, Somalia, Mozambique and Ethiopia.

Non communicable diseases, such as heart disease, cancer and diabetes, are the main causes of premature death worldwide, with more than 36 million people dying each year, the investigators said. Most deaths are caused by unhealthy lifestyles, including alcoholism, smoking and an unbalanced diet.
