How to keep fresh chestnut without insects? Can chestnut be kept in refrigerator

Every year in this season, there is a sweet smell of fried chestnut in the street. How can fresh chestnut be preserved? Fresh chestnut contains a lot of water, sugar and starch, so it is easy to mildew or moth, so we need to master certain preservation methods, so that chestnut can be stored for a longer time.

If you don't use the refrigerator, you need to dry it for another two or three days. It can also be put in a dry and breathable place in a breathable cloth bag for a long time.

It's not recommended to boil it. It's very dry, and there's no special nutrition for chestnut seeds. It's like storing peanuts. Would you like to put dried peanuts or fried (or boiled to dry) peanuts? The latter one doesn't last long, and it's easy to deteriorate.

Can fresh chestnut be put in refrigerator

If the raw chestnut needs to be preserved for a short time, it can be placed in the refrigerator cold room. Pay attention to the high humidity in the cold room. It must be taken out every three to five days to dry the shell water before putting it back. But not in the freezer.

Because chestnut belongs to recalcitrant seed, it can't bear low temperature storage below 0 ℃. This kind of seed still has high water content (30% - 60%) when it is mature, and it can automatically enter into germination state soon after harvest. Once dehydrated (even if the water content is still very high), it will affect the germination process and lead to the rapid loss of viability.

If not necessary, the chestnut can be boiled, dried and sealed in the freezer for more than half a year. When eating, take it out and steam it again. It can be eaten directly or used for cooking after peeling. The taste is the same.

How to keep fresh chestnut best

1. Spreading and airing method. Open the fresh chestnut stand in a cool and ventilated place. As long as it is not piled up and well ventilated, it will never go bad for two months.

2. Sand deposit method. Cover the bottom of the container with yellow sand and put chestnuts on it. This is a layer of yellow sand and a layer of chestnuts. Put more yellow sand on the top layer. If you don't want the chestnut to dry, you can spray it with water every once in a while, but not too much, otherwise it will rot. The difficulty of this method is to master the amount of water spray. If you master it properly, the preserved chestnut will be the same as the fresh one. If you master it badly, it will rot.

3. Air drying. The method of keeping chestnut by air drying is the longest, and the method is not difficult. First, soak the fresh chestnut in cold water for 7-10 days, then put it in a basket, hang it in a cool and ventilated place and let it dry naturally.

4. Sealing method. Put the fresh chestnut with no raw water on the surface into a plastic bag, fasten the bag mouth and put it in a cool and ventilated place. This method is no problem for half a month. If it is refrigerated in the refrigerator, it will last longer.

5. Cold storage. Remove the thin coat of the shell and inner layer of the chestnut, use the fresh-keeping bag to tie the mouth of the bag tightly, and put it in the refrigerator and freezer for two months. But remember to remove the outer and inner layers of the thin clothes, because both of them are prone to mildew. In fact, you can also put it in the refrigerator freezer to keep it for a year.

6. Sawdust method. Mix the sawdust and chestnut together, put them into the container, put more sawdust on the top, do not cover it, and then put the container in a cool and ventilated place, so that it can be kept for about 2 months, but the chestnut will dry after too long.
