What is the difference between herpetic angina and hand foot mouth disease? What does herpetic angin

These days, the baby suddenly has a lot of white bubbles in his mouth, which frightens his mother. In fact, in a strict sense, this kind of disease belongs to herpetic angina, so what's the difference with HFMD? The disease has the name of "invisible HFMD", but unlike HFMD, there is almost no serious life-threatening disease.

Parents with babies at home should pay attention. Recently, a kind of children's disease is rampant: herpetic angina, which is also known as invisible hand foot mouth disease, easily confused with hand foot mouth disease. If you find that your baby has fever, drool and anorexia, you should suspect that it is this disease. You should take your baby to the hospital as soon as possible.

Sudden increase of herpetic angina

5-year-old Taotao is alive and kicking in the kindergarten one day. He gets up in the afternoon to play games with the children. But at about 4:30 in the afternoon, the teacher suddenly found that the little guy was a little sad. He went to touch his forehead. It was very hot. The school doctor measured that it was 39.5 ℃. The teacher hurriedly informed the parents and gave the children anti fever drugs.

After Taotao went home, his temperature was around 38.3 ℃, his appetite was poor, and he was drowsy. Four hours later, after the efficacy of antipyretics, Taotao's temperature rose again. One night, it was physical cooling and antipyretic. Taotao's temperature could not be lowered all the time. The next morning, Taotao's mother hurriedly took her child to Shenzhen People's Hospital for treatment. The doctor checked: "herpetic angina!". There were many red spots in Taotao's throat. The doctor said that there would be grey white herpes next, and there would be a red halo around. After 2-3 days, it would gradually expand and form ulcer.

Li Zhiguang, chief pediatrician of the Municipal People's Hospital, told reporters that since the summer, there have been a lot of children with herpetic angina, and every day the hospital has to receive 89 cases.

Most of the symptoms are similar to the cold

Herpetic angina is a special type of upper respiratory tract infection, which is characterized by herpetic ulcerative mucosal damage, common in infants and young children. Most of the symptoms were acute onset, mainly caused by group a Coxsackie virus and occasionally by other enteroviruses. The incubation period is generally 2-7 days through contact infection, fecal oral transmission and respiratory infection.

The symptoms of the infant are sudden high fever accompanied by sore throat, headache, anorexia, and pain in neck, abdomen and limbs. Vomiting and convulsion often occur in the infant. Within two days after the onset of the disease, a small number of hoary herpes appeared in the oral mucosa of the child, surrounded by a red halo, mostly seen in the front of the tonsil, but also located in the soft palate, tonsil, uvula, tongue and so on. In the next two or three days, the blisters broke into shallow ulcers.

The child has a high fever. Many parents think it's a cold. As a result, their treatment is delayed. "Nearly 95% of the disease is caused by viruses. The child's temperature rises rapidly after the onset of the disease, which is easy to cause high fever convulsion, so it should be sent to the hospital quickly. "Li Zhiguang said that if we find out early and prescribe the right medicine, the child will recover quickly. The principle of treatment is antiviral treatment, taking antibiotics is invalid.

Take less children to noisy public places

Li Zhiguang said that there are many causes of herpetic angina, mainly due to the hot weather in summer and the poor indoor air circulation, which causes the rapid propagation of indoor air bacteria and viruses and causes diseases in children's respiratory tract. Parents should pay attention to keep their children's personal and indoor health, and try not to take their children to noisy public places. However, parents must pay attention to the fact that the disease is very urgent, and the temperature of the child rises rapidly after the disease, which is easy to cause high fever convulsion. If the child has convulsions, at the same time of being sent to the hospital quickly, the parents can hold the middle point of the child's person, constantly shout the child's name, and at the same time, prevent the child from biting his tongue during convulsions. The posture of holding the child must be correct: first, loosen the collar of the child and let the head lean to one side, so as to ensure the smooth breathing of the child. Never hold the child on the back of your head, which will affect the breathing of the child.

Extended reading: rinse with light salt water to relieve discomfort

Li Zhiguang reminded that June to August is the high incidence period of herpetic angina, but this is a self limited disease, the general course of disease is about a week, parents do not have to worry too much.

Because the onset of the disease is very urgent, the children often show high fever, sore throat, salivation, anorexia, pharyngeal congestion, and even vomiting in severe cases, especially after herpes rupture into small ulcer, the children will feel very uncomfortable. Li Zhiguang introduced several methods to relieve the discomfort.

1. Pay attention to oral hygiene and keep the mouth clean. Rinse the mouth with light salt water, smear 10% silver nitrate on the ulcer, or blow and sow the pharynx with Yanhou Lingdan, bingbo powder, etc. to reduce the symptoms of pharyngeal pain.

2. Take vitamin C and B orally.

3. Antibiotics have no effect on viral pharyngitis, but if there is fever, antibiotics should be given to control the secondary bacterial infection.

How to distinguish hand foot mouth disease and herpetic angina

Herpetic pharyngitis, due to its similar symptoms with HFMD, also known as "invisible HFMD", is easily confused with HFMD. So, how to distinguish the two?

Li Zhiguang said that the biggest difference between herpetic angina and HFMD is that herpetic angina only occurs in the mouth, while most children with HFMD first have herpes in their throat, and then develop to the heart of their hands and feet, rarely growing on the back of their hands and feet, accompanied by fever. The rash is generally the size of small grains of rice or mung beans. There are red grey white herpes or red papules around, without pain, itching or scab.

Another important difference is that, although pharyngitis may be accompanied by bacterial infection, there will be no complications such as encephalitis, that is to say, there will be little serious disease and life risk. A small number of children with HFMD can cause complications such as myocarditis, pulmonary edema and aseptic meningoencephalitis. If the disease develops rapidly in some severe children, it will lead to death.
