The origin of Chinese teachers' Day

The earliest teacher's day in China was in 1931. At that time, famous professors in the field of education, such as Tai shuangqiu and Cheng Qibao, contacted people from Beijing and Shanghai in the field of education, proposed June 6 as the teacher's day every year, and issued the declaration of teacher's day, which proposed three goals: improving the treatment of teachers, ensuring the work of teachers, and enhancing the cultivation of teachers. This teacher's Day was not recognized by the national government at that time, but it had a certain impact all over the country.

Since then, in 1939, the Ministry of education of the national government decided to establish another Confucius birthday (August 27) as teachers' day, and issued the Interim Measures for the commemoration of teachers' day, but at that time it was not implemented in the whole country.

In 1951, the Ministry of education of the people's Republic of China and the all China Federation of trade unions jointly agreed to combine teachers' day with the May 1st International Labor Day as teachers' day in China. For various reasons, the festival has not been promoted in practice.

In order to carry forward the fine tradition of "respecting teachers and valuing education" and improve the status of teachers, on January 21, 1985, the ninth session of the Standing Committee of the Sixth National People's Congress formally passed the proposal of the State Council on the establishment of teachers' day, which is determined to be China Teachers' day on September 10 every year. At this time of the year, new students enter school and set up festivals to carry out activities of respecting teachers and teaching, which can create a good atmosphere for teachers to teach well and students to learn well, and promote the formation of a good social fashion of respecting teachers and teaching, knowledge and talents nationwide. Since then, people's teachers have their own festivals.
