In the early morning of August 8, the local heavy rainfall in Gengdi village, qiaowo Town, Puge County, Liangshan Prefecture caused mountain torrents. As of 18:00 on August 8, 24 people were killed, 1 lost contact, 4 were slightly injured, 1 was rescued successfully, and 577 people from 157 households were affected to varying degrees.

The disaster destroyed 71 houses, damaged 5 kilometers of roads, 10 kilometers of rivers and ditches, 5 kilometers of safe drinking water pipes, 5 bridges, affected more than 90 mu of rice, 37 mu of mulberry garden and 55 mu of dry land.

After the disaster, Liangshan Prefecture and Puge county quickly launched the emergency plan and organized rescue and relief. At the first time, more than 210 professional rescue personnel, more than 800 cadres and people, 12 large-scale machines and 6 ambulances were mobilized from the public security, fire protection, armed police and other departments. All efforts were made to search and rescue the missing people, and more than 500 people were transferred and resettled in time. Emergency allocation of tents, quilts, coats, rice, dry food and other relief materials to ensure the basic livelihood of the affected people.

On August 8, at the debris flow site of Gengdi village, qiaowo Town, Puge County, rescue forces launched rescue.
