The origin of July 1 Party Day

Party building day is the day when the Communist Party of China establishes the party. After the founding of the Communist Party of China on July 23, 1921, under the brutal rule of the reactionary warlord government, the Communist Party of China can only be in a state of secrecy, without an open environment for activities. During the period of the great revolution, the party was busy with the cooperation between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party, carrying out the workers and peasants movement and supporting the northern expedition. There was no condition to commemorate the birth of the party. Comrade Mao Zedong proposed July 1 as the birthday anniversary of the Communist Party of China in May 1938.

After the victory of Russian October Revolution in 1917, Marxism spread rapidly to our country. After the May 4th patriotic movement, the first revolutionary intellectuals who accepted Marxism Leninism, Li Dazhao, Chen Duxiu, Mao Zedong, Dong Biwu, etc., set up Communist groups in various places successively to publicize Marxism Leninism and engage in workers' movement. With the active help of the Communist International led by Lenin, in July 1921, Communist groups from all over the country sent representatives to Shanghai to hold the first Congress of the Communist Party of China. Later, it was discovered by the imperialist spy that the meeting was transferred to a cruise ship in Nanhu, Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province. The meeting was attended by Li Da, Li Hanjun, Zhang Guochu, Liu Renjing, Dong Biwu, Chen Tanqiu, Mao Zedong, he Shuheng, Wang Jingmei, Deng Enming, Chen Gongbo, Bao huiseng, Zhou Fohai, a total of 13 people, representing 57 party members from all walks of life. Also attending the meeting were representatives of the Communist International Malin and red Workers International nicolski. The Congress passed the party's constitution, elected Chen Duxiu as its leader and proclaimed the founding of the Communist Party of China. Since then, there has been a completely new type of unified working class party in China, with communism as its goal and Marxism Leninism as its guide of action.

The origin of July 1 Party Day

After the founding of the Communist Party of China in July 1921, due to the cruelty of the struggle, there was no condition to organize unified activities to commemorate the birthday of the party for a long time. Until 1936, when the 15th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, Comrade Chen Tanqiu, a major representative of the party, published the article "memories of the first congress" on the seventh volume of the magazine "Communist Party International" published in Moscow, to mark the birth of the party. This is the earliest article in memory of the Communist Party of China. This article is based on the specific month of a major opening, not the specific date of a major opening.

Comrade Mao Zedong proposed July 1 as the birthday anniversary of the Communist Party of China in May 1938. At that time, Mao Zedong put forward in his article on protracted war: "July 1 this year is the 17th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China". This is the first time that the leading comrades of the Central Committee clearly put forward that "July 1" is the anniversary of the birth of the party.

During the Anti Japanese War, due to the difficult environment, it was impossible to check and record the exact date of the first National Congress of the Communist Party of China (after textual research, it was concluded that the time of the first National Congress of the Communist Party of China was July 23, 1921). Therefore, in 1941, the Party Central Committee decided to convene the first National Congress of the Communist Party of China to determine July 1, 1921 as the birthday and anniversary of the Communist Party of China.
