What is angel fish? How to raise Angel Fish

The patterns on the body surface of juvenile arachnoideae are very different from that of adult fish. Some species of juvenile fish have very similar patterns, sometimes they can't be distinguished. What is easy to confuse is not the blue and white circular stripe on the body, or the black and yellow stripe pattern.

Brief introduction of angel fish

Introduction to Angel Fish

Angel fish, also known as echelon fish, angelfish, also known as swallow fish, small fin sailfish, belongs to the family Cichlidae and angel fish. Originally living in the Amazon River Basin, it is a tropical fish with high ornamental value and the reputation of "Queen of ornamental fish". The dorsal and ventral fins are very long, much like the wings of an angel. Its origin is the Amazon River in South America.

Although angelfish and butterfly fish are very similar in appearance, there is the most obvious way to distinguish them. There are thorns on the gill cover of angelfish, but butterfly fish does not. Generally speaking, the fairy fish is thicker and less egg shaped.

Echinopteridae has a wide range of sizes and colors, which is a very attractive group. Some species may exceed 60 cm in natural waters; some species may not exceed 10 cm in small size.

The patterns on the body surface of juvenile arachnoideae are very different from that of adult fish. Some species of juvenile fish have very similar patterns, sometimes they can't be distinguished. It's easy to confuse the blue and white circular stripes, or the black and yellow stripes. In the natural waters, the fairy fish act like "clean fish" when they are young, serving the larger fish for free. Some people think that the pattern on their body surface can not only publicize this fact, but also disperse the hostile attitude and attack power of the same kind of adult fish.

Like other sea fishes, echinopteridae is almost indistinguishable in sex, and may only be seen in the breeding season; females tend to be more bloated because of having eggs in the body, and the breeding always occurs in the dusk, and it is only in the aquarium where a pair of angelfish are raised alone. Some male species will mate with more than one female in different periods. The reproduction mode of fairy fish and butterfly fish is the same. The male and female fish move upstream in the water and discharge their eggs and sperm respectively. The fertilized eggs are floating eggs, which will float on the water for about a month and feed on plankton. Although it is impossible for people to breed sea water angelfish, there are still several kinds of angelfish that have been successfully bred in the artificial environment of aquarium.

Matters needing attention in angel fish breeding

Angel fish is a kind of cichlid, which can be said to be the representative fish of tropical fish. The dorsal and ventral fins are very long, much like the wings of an angel. What should we pay attention to in the reproduction of angelfish?

1、 Avoid pollution of water quality. Do not feed baits for artificial incubation to avoid pollution of water quality, especially for live baits. A cyclops mixed in Daphnia can penetrate the outer wall of the fertilized egg and greatly reduce the hatchability of the egg.

2、 The benefits of artificial reproduction are mainly to reduce the consumption of looking after the eggs of the parent fish after spawning, so that the parent fish can resume production faster, and to avoid the failure of reproduction due to starvation in the process of looking after the eggs of the parent fish.

3、 Before spawning, carefully observe the signs of successful pairing. If the anus begins to bulge, that is, the vas deferens and ovipositing tubes begin to droop, this is the sign before spawning. Before spawning, they will choose a safe area to jointly defend the territory and drive the fish into.

4、 Before spawning, choose an area that is considered safe. This area may be a wide leaf of water grass in the wild, and a corner of aquarium glass in the artificial breeding. After environmental safety is determined, the female and male fish will peck the spawning area clean.

5、 In reproduction, the female and male will peck the spawning area clean, and the female begins to lay eggs, while the male fertilizes the female while laying eggs. Generally, the whole spawning process will last for several hours, and the number of spawning depends on the size of adult fish, generally ranging from 400-1000.

6、 After the process of protecting eggs, the larva of the swallow began to hatch, but still could not swim. After a long period of 4-5 days, the larva attached to the spot and absorbed its own yolk, and began to free the spawning site, feeding on the tiny water fleas. Female and male fish still take good care of the larva.

7、 Do not over scare the swallows. When they have signs of spawning, they should be placed in another aquarium for breeding. At the same time, air pump should be used to provide sufficient dissolved oxygen. During this period, it should not be too strong lighting, nor should they be over frightened. Over frightened will lead them to devour all the eggs they have produced.
