4hw.com.cn: Recently, the Huangdao inspection and Quarantine Bureau intercepted a batch of imported waste paper from the United States that was not qualified for environmental protection, weighing more than 256 tons. After inspection, it is found that the inclusion content of this batch of goods is 12 times higher than the relevant national environmental control standards, which is the most serious import waste paper with inclusion exceeding the standard detected at Huangdao port in recent three years.
The goods were loaded in 10 40 foot containers with a weight of 256080 kg and a value of 51984.24 USD. They were shipped from Miami port in the United States on January 30, 2018 and arrived at Qingdao port on March 14. The inspection and quarantine personnel found that the overall appearance of this batch of goods was very poor, with a large number of waste plastics, waste wood, waste metal, cans and other inclusions.
After sorting, the content of other inclusions is up to 6.78%, which is far beyond the control standard of "the content of other inclusions shall not exceed 0.5%" in the "environmental protection control standard for imported solid wastes that can be used as raw materials - waste paper or cardboard" (gb16487.4-2017). Huangdao Bureau has issued the inspection and quarantine certificate and the notice of inspection and quarantine treatment for the batch of goods according to law, and returned them for transportation.
It is reported that since the implementation of the new version of environmental control standard for imported waste materials on March 1, Huangdao inspection and Quarantine Bureau has intercepted and returned 15 batches of imported waste paper that are not qualified for environmental protection according to the new standard. The reasons for the disqualification are that other inclusions exceed the standard, and the content of inclusions detected ranges from 0.74% to 6.78%.
