The times higher education (the) recently released its 2017 global university reputation ranking, with Harvard University ranking first for the sixth consecutive year and elected as the most prestigious institution of higher learning in the world.

Founded in 1636, Harvard University is the oldest institution of higher education in the United States. It has 47 Nobel laureates, 32 heads of state, including 8 American presidents and 48 Pulitzer Prize winners. 42 of the top 100 universities are in the United States. But times higher education is also a reminder of the rise of Asian universities. For example, Tsinghua University and Peking University in China ranked ahead of the universities of Pennsylvania and Cornell in this year's list, while Tokyo University surpassed Columbia University.
