What is the correct way to use lithium battery? What are the precautions when using lithium battery

Four seas network: the chemical property of lithium is very active and easy to burn. When the battery is discharged and charged, the internal temperature of the battery will continue to rise. The gas generated in the activation process will expand, and the internal pressure of the battery will increase to a certain extent. If there is a scar on the shell, it will break, causing liquid leakage, fire and even explosion. All lithium-ion batteries, whether in the past or in recent years, including polymer lithium-ion batteries, lithium iron phosphate batteries and so on, are very afraid of internal short circuit, external short circuit and overcharge. So how to use lithium battery correctly? What should we pay attention to when using it?

How to use lithium battery correctly

1. Charging: the safe working voltage range of lithium battery is 2.8 ~ 4.2V. The lithium ion in the battery below or above this voltage range becomes very unstable, even causing accidents. In order to keep the battery in a safe range, a special charger is needed. These chargers will automatically adjust the charging mode according to the current state of the battery.

2. Activation: before the charger starts charging, it will supply the battery with small current, detect the change of battery voltage at the same time, and gradually increase the current until the set value. This process can be considered as an activation or a test charge.

3. Constant current and variable voltage charging: the charger charges the battery with a constant current. With the increase of the battery voltage, the charger increases the charging voltage at the same time to accelerate the charging speed.

4. Variable current and constant voltage charging: when the battery reaches the 4.2V cut-off voltage, the battery only rushes into about 70% of the power (not full). At this time, the charger will continue to charge the battery with a constant voltage and a gradually smaller current. When the value is less than 0.1A and the battery voltage continues to rise, the charger will stop charging.

Precautions for use of lithium battery

1. Storage voltage of model lithium battery

The model lithium battery is generally a lithium polymer battery, and its minimum safe use voltage is 3.6V. However, in order to ensure that the battery will not be damaged due to excessive discharge, the minimum safe use voltage is 3.7V, and its maximum charging cut-off voltage is 4.2V. When the voltage is the highest, the battery energy storage is the peak value. If the high voltage is maintained for a long time and not used, the lithium battery unit There will be gas generated by the reaction and start to gather. After a long time, the lithium battery will bulge, commonly known as "big belly". To avoid this situation, the storage voltage of the model lithium battery is generally controlled at 3.7-3.8v.

2. Storage conditions of lithium battery

The most critical storage conditions of model lithium battery are temperature and humidity. Generally, room temperature has little influence on the state of lithium battery, but it can not be directly exposed to the sun. High temperature is easy to cause the model lithium battery to bulge or explode, so the model lithium battery is generally stored in an iron box or plastic box that is dark and airtight. If the discharge performance of a single model lithium battery is very good, it is also The explosion-proof protective bag of model lithium battery needs to be purchased. The reinforced bag has a reinforcing net inside, which can prevent the high-energy model lithium battery from harming other articles in case of air leakage and explosion.
