How to give the baby medicine? What are the precautions for feeding babies?

After six months, the baby will be very easy to get sick, so for the novice parents, the baby's illness is undoubtedly the most painful, but more headache is to give the baby medicine. Every time I give medicine to my baby, does it hurt my baby to cry? In fact, I also need to master scientific methods and skills to give medicine to my baby!

1. Before administration

First put the medicine in a small spoon and dissolve it (about 5-10ml), then while talking with the baby, distract his attention, hold him in his arms, and pay attention not to hold him too tightly, so as to avoid causing baby tension.

2. when taking medicine

Hold the baby's head and shoulders in a half lying position, pad the neck with a handkerchief, gauze or small towel, hold the small chin with your left hand, and gently touch his cheek or lips with a spoon, so as to produce a physiological reflex swallowing action. Then, when the baby opens his mouth or sucks, quickly press the tip of the spoon against the buccal mucosa and molar, slowly pour the medicine into the mouth, and when the baby swallows the medicine completely, release the left hand and pull out the spoon.

3. after taking medicine

Hold the baby up and pat the back gently, so that the liquid medicine can flow into the stomach smoothly, and expel the air in the stomach to avoid vomiting. Then, a proper amount of warm boiled water is fed to wash the medicine left in the mouth and attached to the esophageal wall, so as to eliminate the bitterness left in the mouth and avoid the damage of esophageal mucosa.

matters needing attention:

1. Try to reduce the bitterness of the medicine, which is the main reason why the baby refuses to take the medicine. Some experts have confirmed that when the temperature of medicine soup is 37 ℃, the taste is the most bitter, and the bitterness will be weakened if it is higher or lower than 37 ℃. Therefore, the feeding temperature should be below 37 ℃.

2. The root of the tongue feels the least bitterness. Therefore, avoid the contact between the liquid and the taste buds on the surface of the tongue.

3. When taking medicine, don't try to save time. Mix the medicine with milk, juice and so on. This will not only affect the efficacy, but also make children feel that these things are bitter and affect their appetite.

4. It is not allowed to inject medicine by force. Because the trachea and esophagus are close to each other, there are epiglottic cartilage above the trachea, which will cover the entrance of the trachea when swallowing, and food will enter the esophagus, while the protective reflex function of the larynx of the baby has not been fully developed. If the baby is forced to fill the medicine when crying, it will make the medicine liquid flow into the trachea, resulting in severe choking cough, serious airway obstruction, breathing difficulties, and even suffocation death.
