When will China's 5g network go out and how fast?

Sihai network: Recently, the 2018 World Mobile Communication Conference was held in Spain. 5g network has become a hot focus. As the next outlet of the global mobile Internet, many well-known enterprises have been ready to pave the way for 5g network, hoping to get a share of the market in the 5g network era. When will 5g network be launched in China? Let's have a look.

At this MWC conference, Qualcomm, Huawei, ZTE, Ericsson, Nokia and other well-known telecom enterprises demonstrated a large number of mature 5g technologies, as well as a number of 5g applications including mobile communication, the Internet of things, and the Internet of vehicles. It is generally believed that mature 5g technologies and applications will appear in the world mobile communication conference with global industry vane, which means that 5g development has entered a mature period and is expected to start business in many places in the world as scheduled in 2020. After 5g is officially commercialized, it will drive a new round of development of global telecommunication industry and science and technology industry, and the economic output may exceed 10 trillion US dollars.

Mature technology appears

In this world mobile communication conference, 5g has become one of the key words, and a large number of mature technologies and applications have appeared. As a key manufacturer of 5g industry, Qualcomm has exhibited a number of 5g technologies, as well as 5g applications in Internet of things, Internet of vehicles, virtual reality and other fields. In addition, Qualcomm also announced to expand cooperation with Samsung Electronics in related OEM, including Xiaolong 5g mobile chipset. Qualcomm said that Xiaolong 5g mobile chipset will have smaller chip size and more powerful performance, which can help many manufacturers design and produce various 5g terminal products.

Ericsson, together with China Mobile, demonstrated the prototype technology and application of the new generation 5g intelligent factory at this conference. By simulating the product assembly process in the intelligent factory environment, it fully demonstrated the potential application of 5g network in the field of intelligent manufacturing. According to the introduction, this application can apply 5g, cloud computing, big data and artificial intelligence and other technologies in the production and manufacturing process, closely combined with production automation, which can make the production more flexible and intelligent, and also meet people's demand for more intelligent production, such as multi variety, small batch and customization.

Nokia has demonstrated a number of industrial Internet applications based on 5g networks. Among them, the use of 5g network for high-precision control of hydraulic automation and real-time monitoring of the operation site can ensure millisecond delay of related operations, greatly improving the safety of industrial production.

Huawei, ZTE, Samsung and other important manufacturers are not to be outdone, showing a number of products, including smart chips and 5g terminal prototypes. For example, Huawei released its first 5g mobile chip, Balong 5g01, at the conference. It is reported that the download speed of this chip can reach 2.3gbps. It only takes about one second to download a high-definition movie. It can also be used in a variety of terminals such as cars and refrigerators.

Qualcomm, Ericsson, Nokia, China Mobile and many other manufacturers told the economic reference that mature 5g technology and applications appeared at the world mobile communication conference, which means that 5g technology has entered a mature period, and there are a large number of application scenarios that can be realized, which will lay the foundation for the official commercial use of 5g networks in many parts of the world in 2020. Bao Yikang, President and CEO of Ericsson, said that after years of standard setting and technology research and development, 5g technology has matured, operators can start 5g deployment, and 5g is gradually moving towards the commercial stage.

5g standard coming out

At this conference, most insiders predict that 5g will officially enter the commercial stage after the international 5g standard is announced on the basis of mature technology and application. According to the work arrangement of relevant international standards organizations, the first version of 5g international standards will be officially published in June 2018. At that time, major global telecom operators, telecom equipment manufacturers, mobile equipment manufacturers and other upstream and downstream enterprises in the industrial chain will officially launch 5g commercial network deployment according to 5g international standards. The industry generally believes that the first version of 5g international standards, which means that the global 5g industry starts.

The reporter also learned that since October last year, major telecommunication enterprises and a number of standard proponents in various countries have successively submitted 5g standard schemes to relevant international standards organizations. Each country has indicated that it will follow the unified standard to formulate 5g technical standards. According to the work arrangement of relevant international standards organizations, the 5g standard scheme submitted above was frozen at the end of last year. After negotiation by all parties, the first version of 5g international standard will be formulated on this basis and will be officially published in June 2018.

Wang Zhiqin, vice president of China Academy of information and communication, introduced to the economic reference that at present, many countries and regions attach great importance to 5g business. The United States, the European Union, South Korea, Japan and China all plan to launch 5g network business deployment in the second half of 2019 and officially use it in 2020. With the release of 5g international standard, the global 5g industry competition will become increasingly fierce.

Wang Zhiqin believes that the first version of 5g international standard will be a great benefit to the development of 5g industry and information industry in China, but the standard is not the only factor determining the development level of 5g industry. Only by deploying commercial network as soon as possible and carrying out large-scale 5g application can we ensure the smooth development of 5g industry in China.

According to the Ministry of industry and information technology and three major operators, 5g business in China is advancing in an orderly manner, and technology research and development test has officially entered the third stage. It is expected that by the end of 2018, the main links of 5g industrial chain will basically reach the pre commercial level, and 5g network construction is planned to start in 2019, and 5g network will be officially commercial in 2020.

How fast is 5g network?

To answer this question, Qualcomm announced the simulation test results at MWC 2018. It can be seen that 5g is 23 times faster than the existing 4glte in terms of Web response speed. If the performance of 5g network after commercial use is really similar to the test result, the future mobile network will be faster than WiFi!

In order to obtain data close to the real operating environment, Qualcomm uses Frankfurt and San Francisco as models to analyze the location of transmitting stations, spectrum allocation, geographical environment, user needs and speed of various devices in the two places, so as to prepare to calculate the real situation when 5g network is enabled in the future. However, this research simulation is based on 4G LTE technology 5g NR network, rather than fully independent 5g network.

According to Qualcomm's press release, they tested the NSA 5g NR network model across five spectrums through the Gigabit LTE network in Frankfurt, using 100 MHz 3.5GHz spectrum and Gigabit LTE equipment. The results show that 5g NR network will be up to 5 times faster than 4G LTE when compared with download speed.

In addition, 5g's browsing and downloading speed is over 490mbps, which is about 90% faster than 4G's 56 Mbps. The waiting time for downloading is also shortened to 17ms, and the response speed is seven times faster. During the test, about 90% of 5g users download more than 100Mbps, far exceeding 8mbps of 4G LTE users, and the image quality of streaming movies is also greatly improved.

On the other hand, San Francisco and the NSA 5g NR network with the licensed assisted access bandwidth were tested on the 800 MHz 28ghz mmwave spectrum. It was found that the download speed bomb rose to 1.4 Gbps, the increase of download waiting time was 20 times faster, the download waiting time was even more reduced to 4.9 milliseconds, and the response speed was 23 times faster.
