On the evening of January 5, the latest bulletin issued by Wuhan Municipal Health Commission showed that as of 8:00 on January 5, 2020, Wuhan had reported 59 patients with unexplained viral pneumonia, including 7 severe patients, and the vital signs of the other patients were generally stable. At present, all patients were treated in isolation in Wuhan medical institutions, and there were no deaths.

The notification shows that patients with unexplained pneumonia have ruled out the possibility of infection with the pathogen of infectious atypical pneumonia (SARS). So far, no clear evidence of human to human transmission has been found, and no infection has been found among medical staff. Respiratory pathogens such as influenza, avian influenza, adenovirus, infectious atypical pneumonia (SARS) and Middle East respiratory syndrome (mers) have been excluded.
