How to form the natural landscape of stalactite

A man kicked a 30 cm stalactite in Qianlong Cave Scenic Spot in Guizhou Province, which attracted netizens' attention. The natural landscape formed in tens of thousands of years has been cruelly damaged. How did stalactite form? Why did it take so long?

Stalactite refers to stalactite, stalagmite, stone pillar, etc. formed in caves of carbonate rock area in a long geological history and under specific geological conditions. Because of their unique appearance, many places will develop them as tourism resources. On May 29, a man kicked a 30 cm stalactite in Qianlong Cave Scenic Spot in Guizhou. Experts say the 30 cm stalactite is at least tens of thousands of years old, and it's hard to recover after being kicked.

According to the information on the on-site monitoring video, at about 1:56 p.m. on May 29, a man in a white short sleeve coat saw a stalactite about half a meter away from the footpath in Qianlong Cave Scenic Area of Songtao Miao Autonomous County, Guizhou Province. There were several people taking photos beside him. The man tried to kick the stalactite and found that there was no change. After that, he mended the foot. Obviously, it was harder than the first foot. The stalactite still didn't move until the third foot went down. The stalactite was finally kicked off. The kicked part was about 30cm.

Due to different geological environment and formation conditions, stalactite's' growth 'speed is also different. The stalactite that was kicked off can grow up as soon as tens of thousands of years in the natural environment. Moreover, if there is an obvious section, even if stalactite can be formed again, it is difficult to restore its original appearance.
