One fifth of China's glaciers have melted, and the white alarm has sounded

China is the country with the most developed glaciers in the middle and low latitudes in the world. The third pole with the Qinghai Tibet Plateau as the main body is the most important glacier enrichment area except the north and south poles.

According to the statistics of China's two glacier catalogues, from around 1970 to 2010, the national glacier area decreased by 12442.4 square kilometers, accounting for 20.6% of the total glacier area.

Experts say that the rise of global temperature caused by human greenhouse gases is the main reason for the melting of glaciers.
