According to tmall's official website, on October 30, 2019, the state tobacco monopoly administration and the State Administration of Market Supervision issued the notice on further protecting minors from e-cigarettes, urging e-commerce platforms to close e-cigarette stores in time and take e-cigarette products off the shelves in time. On November 6, 2019, according to the requirements of the notice, the letter on immediately closing e-cigarette stores and removing e-cigarette products from the shelves issued by Zhejiang Tobacco Monopoly Bureau required Alibaba group to close e-cigarette stores on the platform and remove e-cigarette products from the shelves in time.
Taking care of minors' physical and mental health is Alibaba's consistent principle. In order to protect minors from e-cigarettes, Alibaba has always strictly required that any store shall not sell e-cigarettes to minors in any form, prohibit e-cigarettes from marketing and recommending minors or student groups, and prohibit material content containing words and pictures such as students, schools, children and children in publicity information. In addition, Alibaba has already added purchase dissuasion information for groups under the age of 18 on the whole network e-cigarette product page, and launched the e-cigarette transaction interception function to identify and block the channels for consumer groups under the age of 18 to buy e-cigarettes.
