Rare animal in Shennongjia rare albino muntjac appears in Shennongjia

According to the Shennongjia National Park Administration on November 1, the Scientific Research Institute of the Bureau recently found a video of suspected albino animals when sorting out the infrared camera data submitted by the wooden fish management office. After verification, it is confirmed that the wild animal is a rare albino muntjac.

This group of image data was taken in the area of Guanmenshan management and protection center in Shennongjia. The camera site is 1205m above sea level, and the habitat is deciduous broad-leaved forest dominated by oak.

It is understood that the infrared camera captured the video image of the albino muntjac and another normal muntjac in the same frame for the first time in the evening of May 29. The contrast between the two body colors is obvious, showing the uniqueness of the albino muntjac. However, since the two muntjacs enter the lens from the left rear side of the infrared camera, only their backs are left; At 15:00 p.m. on June 13, half a month later, the albino muntjac appeared in the lens again. The infrared camera captured the high-definition complete color image of its front for up to 4 seconds, making up for the regret of turning back to the lens when entering the lens last time.

Shennongjia is the first area in China that integrates three world-class Certifications: UNESCO Man and Biosphere Reserve, World Geopark and world natural heritage. It is known as 31 & deg north latitude; The "green miracle" natural species gene bank, with its unique geographical, geomorphic and climatic characteristics, has become a refuge for many ancient relict, rare and endangered, endemic organisms and model species. Since the 1950s, many albino animals have been found in Shennongjia, such as white black bear, white bamboo mouse, white crowned deer, white giant salamander, white snake, white crow and so on, which are rare in the world.
