Since late July, affected by the continuous sunny and hot weather, serious drought has occurred in Jiangxi and Anhui. The land has cracked, rice has withered and died, the water level of rivers, lakes and reservoirs has continued to fall, and people have difficulty drinking water in some areas. The number of victims in Jiangxi alone has reached 4.663 million.

At present, the two provinces have successively started the level IV emergency response for drought resistance. However, according to the forecast of the Central Meteorological Observatory, the precipitation in Jianghuai, the Middle East of Jiangnan and the east of South China will continue to be low in the next ten days, the drought in northern Jiangxi and Southern Anhui will continue, and the drought situation is not optimistic.

The average number of rainless days in the paddy field in Huangqiao village, Jinhu Township, Gongqing City, Jiujiang City is 81 days, and a number of drought data in Jiangxi have reached a historical record.

"After the end of this year's rainy season, controlled by the strong Western Pacific subtropical high and continental warm high, most areas of Jiangxi have maintained sunny, hot and hot weather for a long time. In addition, there are fewer typhoons affecting Jiangxi this year than in the same period of the year, and the area affected is small, which has a limited impact on the precipitation in Jiangxi, resulting in a more serious drought this year than in previous years." Zhang Chaomei, chief forecaster of Jiangxi Climate Center, told reporters.

In Anhui, according to the relevant person in charge of the flood control and Drought Relief Headquarters of Anhui Province, since the end of the impact of typhoon 'lichima' on Anhui Province on August 12, there has been continuous low rainfall weather in Anhui Province, the rainfall is 60% less than that in the same period of the year, the water storage in rivers, lakes, reservoirs and ponds has decreased sharply, the soil moisture in most of the south of the Huai River has deteriorated, and the autumn seed production has been affected.
