On October 8, Beijing time, the summer popular animated film "the devil child of Nezha" will represent mainland China in the 92nd Oscar for Best International Film (formerly best foreign language film) in 2020. The mainland box office of the film earned 4.969 billion, second only to "war wolf 2", ranking second in the box office list of Chinese film history. Previously, Taiwan and Hong Kong selected "who fell in love with him first" and "anti drug 2" respectively.
Oscar officials have also announced a complete list of candidates for the best international film for the Academy Award in 2020. The list includes films from all continents except Antarctica, and shows films from Ghana, Nigeria and Uzbekistan for the first time. Last year, 87 countries and regions participated in the competition. This year, the number has increased to 93, a record high. Among them, the most competitive are the Korean film parasite, which won the Golden Palm Award earlier, pain and glory on behalf of Spain and les miserables on behalf of France.
