Why can the first town in China be upgraded to a city
On September 25, Longgang city was officially established, which is the first "town to city" in China. It is also a major breakthrough in China's administrative division reform and innovation, and will provide a new method for the country's new urbanization reform. Longgang was originally subordinate to Cangnan County, Wenzhou City.
At the beginning of the construction of Longgang in 1984, China first launched the reform of paid land use and registered residence system in the whole country, and established the first peasant city in China, opening the front of "self urbanization". In August this year, with the approval of the State Council, it was agreed to abolish Longgang town of Cangnan County and establish Longgang city at the county level.
After the establishment of Longgang City, in accordance with the reform requirements of "large department system, flattening, low cost and high efficiency", Longgang city will break through the constraints of system and mechanism, stimulate and release reform dividends, and provide more replicable and popularized experience.
