US shares
US stocks ended lower. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 80.61 points, or 0.45%, to 17977.04; The standard & Poor's 500 index fell 9.63 points, or 0.46%, to 2092.43; The Nasdaq composite index fell 7.73 points, or 0.15%, to 4988.25.
European stock
The three major European stock indexes were mixed. In London, the average price index of 100 stocks in the financial times closed at 7064.3, down 25.47 points, or 0.36%. Germany's Frankfurt DAX index fell 36 points, or 0.29%, to 12338.73. Paris CAC40 stock index closed at 5254.12, up 13.66 points, or 0.26%.
gold
Gold futures for June delivery on the New York Mercantile Exchange fell $5.30, or 0.4%, to $1199.30 an ounce on Monday.
crude oil
Crude oil futures for May delivery on the New York Mercantile Exchange rose 27 cents, or 0.5%, to $51.91 a barrel. So far, oil prices in New York have risen for three consecutive trading days, with a cumulative increase of 2.9% for the three days.
foreign exchange
The dollar index rose 0.11% to 99.444. The dollar fell against the yen, hitting a three week high of 120.845 earlier in the day. The Australian dollar fell to 0.7553 against the US dollar, approaching a six-year low of 0.7534 hit earlier this month.
The euro fell 0.3% to 1.05750 against the dollar in late New York trading, falling to a nearly one month low of 1.0520. The dollar fell 0.21% against the yen to 120.050.
The dollar fell 0.28% to 0.97665 against the Swiss franc, earlier hitting a three week high of 0.98625.
