2019 Chinese version of Nobel Prize announced the list of winners and the results of 2019 future sci

2019 future science award, the results announced: this year, a total of 4 scientists won awards, 1 in life science, 2 in material science, and 1 in mathematics and computer. The single award bonus is US $1 million (about RMB 7.16 million). Among them, Professor Wang Xiaoyun of Tsinghua University is the first female scientist to win the prize in the four years since the establishment of the future science award. She is also the winner of the mathematics and computer award.

Let's introduce the details one by one:

Award winning scientist: Shao Feng

Reason for award: discovery of receptors and executive proteins in human cells for inflammatory response to pathogenic bacterial endotoxin LPS.

Shao Feng, born in January 1972 in Huai'an, Jiangsu Province, is a biochemist, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, deputy academic director and senior researcher of Beijing Institute of life sciences.

In 1991, he graduated from Huai'an middle school in Jiangsu Province, and then studied as an undergraduate in Peking University (Department of Technical Physics, major in Applied Chemistry).

After receiving the master's degree from the Institute of biophysics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1999, he went to the University of Michigan School of medicine to study for a doctor's degree, and then entered the University of California, San Diego School of medicine and Harvard University School of medicine for postdoctoral research.

In 2005, after returning to China, Shao Feng entered the Beijing Institute of life sciences and established a laboratory, mainly engaged in the study of the mechanism of the interaction between pathogens and hosts, and made a series of important original discoveries in the field of pathogen virulence mechanism and anti-bacterial natural immunity.

According to the official introduction of Beijing Institute of life sciences, Shaofeng laboratory has published more than 70 papers, including three international top academic journals such as nature, science and cell. The research results have been reviewed by experts and academic journals for many times.

Award winning scientists: Wang Yifang, Lu Jinbiao

Reason for award: the discovery of the third neutrino oscillation mode in the experiment makes it possible for new physical research beyond the standard model, especially to explain the asymmetry between matter and antimatter in the universe.

Wang Yifang

Wang Yifang, born in February 1963 in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, is an experimental high-energy physicist, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, director, researcher and doctoral supervisor of the Institute of high energy physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Dean of the school of nuclear science and technology of the University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

In 1980, Wang Yifang graduated from Nanjing No. 4 middle school and was admitted to the Department of physics of Nanjing University.

In May 1984, Wang Yifang was selected by Ding Zhaozhong to go to the L3 experiment of the European nuclear center in Geneva, Switzerland, to study high-energy particles under his guidance. In September 1991, he received his doctorate from the University of Florence, Italy.

In April 1996, he entered the Physics Department of Stanford University as an assistant researcher. In December 2001, Wang Yifang returned home as a researcher at the Institute of high energy physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Lu Jinbiao

Lu Jinbiao, born in March 1953, is a Chinese American particle physicist. Professor, University of California, Berkeley.

He graduated from the University of Hong Kong with a bachelor's degree in physics in 1976. In 1983, he received a doctorate in physics from Rutgers University. He worked at the University of California, Berkeley in 1989.

Planned the neutrino experiment of Daya Bay nuclear reactor with Wang Yifang, found a new neutrino oscillation mode and its oscillation probability, and won the 2014 pannovsky award and 2015 basic physics breakthrough award.

Award winning scientist: Wang Xiaoyun

Reason for award: the innovative cryptanalysis method reveals the weakness of the widely used cryptographic hash function and promotes a new generation of cryptographic hash function standard.

Wang Xiaoyun, born in August 1966 in Zhucheng, Shandong Province, is a Cryptologist, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor Yang Zhenning of the Institute of higher studies of Tsinghua University, and director of the research center of cryptographic theory and technology of Tsinghua University. He is mainly engaged in the research of cryptographic theory and related mathematical problems.

In 1983, Wang Xiaoyun graduated from Zhucheng No. 1 middle school in Shandong Province and was admitted to the Department of mathematics of Shandong University. He successively obtained bachelor's, master's and doctor's degrees. His mentor is academician pan Chengdong, a mathematician.

After that, he stayed in school to teach and successively served as lecturer, associate professor and professor of Mathematics Department of Shandong University.

In July 2005, he was employed as Yang Zhenning professor of higher research center of Tsinghua University.

In 2006, he was employed as a distinguished professor of Changjiang Scholars at Tsinghua University. In the same year, he served as the director of the Key Laboratory of cryptography and information security of the Ministry of education.

In 2017, he was elected academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Founded in 2016, the future science award is the first world-class science award jointly sponsored by scientists and entrepreneurs in China. It is known as the 'Chinese Nobel Prize'.

This award emphasizes the award of scientific research work completed in Greater China, with great international influence, originality, long-term importance or time tested, regardless of their nationality, gender and age. It aims to promote breakthrough basic scientific research, commend outstanding scientists, attract global scientific and technological talents and promote the development of scientific undertakings.

Since its establishment, 16 scientists have won awards, of which Professor Wang Xiaoyun is the first female scientist to win the award.

The evaluation system of future science awards mainly refers to international famous awards such as Nobel Prize and Turing prize, and adopts nomination invitation system and international peer review system.

Candidates are nominated by nominees invited by the Scientific Committee, and individual applications and institutional recommendations are not accepted.

After determining the candidates, the Scientific Committee shall determine more than five international experts in this field to make horizontal and vertical comparison on the work achievements, innovation and influence of the nominated candidates.

The final list of winners will be determined by the Scientific Committee of the future science award by secret ballot with reference to international peer review. At the same time, Professor Gao Xiqing of the Law School of the University of international business and economics and KPMG are invited to form a supervision committee to supervise the whole award process.

The Scientific Committee of the future science award is currently composed of 21 internationally renowned scientists. The individual bonus of the future science award is US $1 million (about RMB 7.16 million). Each bonus is jointly donated by four donors:

The life science award is donated by Ding Jian, Robin Li, Shen Napeng and Zhang Lei.

The donors of the "Material Science Award" are Deng Feng, Wu Yajun, Wu Ying and Xu Xiaoping;

The donors of the "Mathematics and Computer Science Award" are Ding Lei, Jiang nanchun, Ma Huateng and Wang Qiang.

Finally, the future science award week will be held in Beijing from November 13 to 17, and the award ceremony will be held at that time.
