According to the monitoring of the Ministry of Commerce, last week (August 19-25), the price of edible agricultural products in the national market increased by 2.3% over the previous week. Among them, the wholesale price of meat increased by different ranges, including 31.77 yuan, 60.59 yuan and 59.31 yuan per kilogram of pork, beef and mutton, up by 8.8%, 1.4% and 0.7% respectively.

The reporter found that from the monitoring data of the Ministry of Commerce, this is the 12th consecutive week that the wholesale price of pork has risen, from 20.69 yuan per kilogram in early June to 31.77 yuan per kilogram last week.

As for the reasons for the continuous rise of pork prices, Hu Xue, an assistant researcher at the Institute of circulation and consumption of the Research Institute of the Ministry of Commerce, said that from the perspective of supply, since the second half of 2018, affected by emergencies such as African pig plague, the pork market price has been falling. The decline of pork price leads to the decline of market output, especially in Northeast and North China. The pig price is even lower than the cost line, making it the most serious area of de capacity. With the large clearing of China's pork production capacity, the recent pork price has ushered in an all-round rise.

Hu Xue also said that at present, the Mid Autumn Festival and national day are approaching, and the demand of pork market will continue to increase. At the same time, due to the soaring price of pork, farmers are generally reluctant to sell. In the future, the procurement difficulty of pig slaughtering enterprises will further increase, or the contradiction between market supply and demand will be exacerbated, resulting in the tightening of pork supply in the short term.

However, at present, all departments have taken many measures to ensure market supply. " In the future, the pork market price will remain generally stable, and there will be no risk of soaring prices. " Hu Xue said.

For how to stabilize the pork market, Hu Xue suggested that, on the one hand, we should strengthen the monitoring and early warning of the pig market. When the pig supply enters a tight state, we should start the plan in time and take emergency measures to ensure the stable supply of pork. On the other hand, we should further strengthen the prevention and control of African swine fever. Relevant departments should strictly review the epidemic prevention, standardize the quarantine management of pig producing areas, and strengthen the whole process supervision from pig breeding, slaughtering to processing. At the same time, we should establish an emergency supply mechanism with multi-channel guarantee to ensure the stable operation of the pork market.
