Japan holds US Treasury bonds to surpass China! Become the largest creditor of the United States

According to the data released by the US Treasury Department on the 15th, in June this year, Japan increased its holdings of US Treasury bonds by US $21.9 billion and China increased its holdings of US Treasury bonds by US $2.3 billion. Japan surpassed China as the largest creditor of the United States.

Data show that by the end of June, Japan's holdings of US Treasury bonds had increased to US $1.1229 trillion, the second consecutive month; China's holdings of US Treasury bonds increased to US $1.1125 trillion, the first increase after three consecutive months of reduction. That month, the US Treasury bonds held by China and Japan still accounted for more than one-third of the total US Treasury bonds held by foreign creditors.

Since June 2017, China has surpassed Japan in the total amount of US Treasury bonds, becoming the largest creditor of the United States.

By the end of June 2019, the total amount of US Treasury bonds held by foreign creditors was about US $6.6363 trillion, an increase of US $97.2 billion over the previous month.
