Students from rural and poor areas account for nearly 20%
Yu Xiaoxiao, director of Tsinghua recruitment office, introduced that this year, Tsinghua university enrolled more than 3400 mainland students, about 300 international students and more than 60 students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. Among mainland students, science and engineering candidates accounted for 77.3%, literature and history candidates accounted for 8.9%, art candidates accounted for 6.6%, and candidates from provinces with comprehensive reform of the college entrance examination (regardless of Arts and Sciences) accounted for 7.2%.
