Cultural relics tombs were dug out and a road was washed out by rain

4hw.com.cn: the mound tomb 2500 years ago was missing one night. It happened to be the width of the farmhouse gate. The local village party secretary said that the missing part was washed by rain, which happened to wash out the width of a road.

Such a coincidence makes the local villagers laugh and cry.

In late July, the villagers of Xiangu village, Jintan City, Changzhou, Jiangsu Province told the upstream news reporter that the Western Mound Tombs of the temple of Xiangu village in Zhou Dynasty, a national key cultural relics protection unit in the village, were privately excavated two years ago, and recently were privately damaged.

National key cultural relics have been dug up privately

Due to its special geographical location, Jintan City, Changzhou, Jiangsu Province was settled by tribal families in the Shang and Zhou dynasties, leaving many Mound Tombs in the Western Zhou Dynasty and the spring and Autumn period. Xitudun Tomb of temple in Xiangu village, Jintan City is one of them.

It is understood that Mound Tombs prevailed from the Western Zhou Dynasty to the spring and Autumn period. They are a unique form of tombs in Jiangnan during the Shang and Zhou Dynasties and occupy a very important position in the regional culture of the bronze age. Such tombs use the hills in the hilly area and the highlands on the plain to place the dead and funerary objects on the ground, pile up steamed bread shaped mounds, and then develop into Mound Tombs.

In 2005, the Mound Tombs in the west of the temple in Xiangu village were excavated and rated as one of the top ten new archaeological discoveries in China in 2005 and the second prize of field archaeology in 2006 and 2007 by the State Administration of cultural relics.

A brief introduction to the Western mound Tomb of Xiangu Temple shows that a large number of cultural relics have been unearthed in the mound tomb, which has high historical, artistic and scientific value. It is of great significance to study the relationship between the Central Plains culture and the indigenous people in the south of the Yangtze River and the integration process of Chinese civilization in the Shang and Zhou dynasties. It is specially mentioned in the introduction that the mound tomb is an important cultural heritage witnessing Chinese civilization, and it is the responsibility of the whole society to protect the mound tomb. In March 2013, xitudun tombs in Xiangu village were listed as the seventh batch of national key cultural relics protection units.

In the view of the villagers of Xiangu village, there are too many loopholes in the protection of Mound Tombs in recent years. With the rise of farmhouse entertainment in the village, mound tombs have become a stumbling block to the income generation of farmhouse entertainment.

Recently, the upstream news reporter saw in front of the West Mound Tombs in the temple of Xiangu village, Jintan city that the two Mound Tombs are located on the main road of Xiangu village. In addition to the two signboards of national key cultural relics protection units and Jiangsu cultural protection units, there are no protection measures around, because there is a road to the village in the East, West A large number of villagers' houses are distributed 5 meters to the north.

Upstream news reporters noted that villagers have planted vegetables behind a well protected mound tomb in the west, and a channel 3 meters wide and 2 meters long has been excavated in the middle of the mound tomb on the left, leading to the gate of a farmhouse called Qinyuan. On one side of the passage, some Mound Tombs remained, and on the other side, vegetable racks were erected. The owner of Qinyuan hotel said that the 3-meter-wide channel was excavated before 2013. Upstream journalists noted that the side of the vegetable rack can clearly see that the soil color is ginger yellow, and there is little vegetation on it.

The surrounding villagers disclosed to the upstream news reporters that in 2017, Xiangu village began to develop farmhouse tourism because it was close to Maoshan, the land of Taoism. It not only renovated the old houses in the village, but also built many new houses for farmhouse management. This channel leading to Qinyuan hotel was dug up overnight.
