Both the defendant Fang and the victim Wang are nurses of a hospital in Yongzhou City. They are same-sex couples. They broke up after they had a contradiction due to economic problems before the case. On the evening of January 29, 2018, the two met in a hotel room in Lingling District, Yongzhou City, and once again had a dispute over economic issues. At about 5 a.m. the next day, Wang ran out of the room because he found a fruit knife in Fang's bag. Fang ran after Wang with a knife and stabbed him in his head and neck. Wang struggled to escape to the elevator, Fang continued to stab in the elevator, dragged Wang out of the elevator on the second floor, cut Wang's wrists and fled the scene.
