Japan is the third leading cause of death, with 110000 aging deaths in 2018

4hw.com.cn: on July 20, Japanese media reported that the population dynamics statistics of Japan's Ministry of health, labor and welfare showed that more people died of aging.

According to Japan's Asahi Shimbun reported on July 15, aging death refers to the so-called 'natural death' without other causes of death. From 1947 after the Second World War to 2001, aging death showed a decreasing trend, and then began to increase. The statistics show that aging death accounts for 8% of the total causes of death, ranking behind cancer and cardiovascular diseases (except hypertensive cardiovascular diseases). The deaths caused by the latter two diseases were about 370000 and 210000 respectively.

The report points out that the main reason for the increase in aging and death is that more and more people live longer. According to the statistics of Japan's Ministry of general affairs, as of October last year, there were about 2.18 million people over the age of 90, an increase of about 900000 in 10 years. Aging death increases with people's age, which is the first cause of death for people over 95 years old.

The report also said that from the 1950s to 1980s, cerebrovascular disease was the largest cause of death in Japan. With the improvement of diet and life and the effectiveness of blood pressure management, the number of deaths due to cerebrovascular diseases is decreasing, and now cerebrovascular diseases have dropped to the fourth leading cause of death.

The report believes that after the elderly suffer from pneumonia and other diseases, over time, they will think that this is' one of the manifestations of aging 'and will not be particularly actively treated. There are many examples of aging and death in this case.

Yashiro akishita, President of the Japanese Geriatrics Association and professor at the University of Tokyo, pointed out that "there are also the following reasons for the increase in aging deaths: more and more people want to die in their own homes and elderly care facilities rather than in hospitals, and are unwilling to take life extending measures such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation or artificial nutrition".
