The user threatened to 'have the opportunity to rape and kill your daughter'. A large number of screenshots of chat records were posted on the microblog.

The reporter of Beijing Daily (ID: beijing_daily) noted that at about 17:00 on July 8, @ Jiangsu network police replied in the microblog comment area: 'received, notified of territorial verification.'

In response to this, at about 13:00 on July 9, @ Xianyu's official customer service responded: we have imposed permanent punishment on the harassment account for the first time, and are contacting the complainant and local police to give the mother due support and help on the platform.

At about 12:00 on July 9, 2019, Matian police station received an alarm from Ms. Jia, saying that a user continued to verbally insult, threaten and harass his daughter with multiple accounts on an online trading platform. According to the situation reported by Ms. Jia, the police arrested the suspect Huang (male, 27 years old) at about 14:00 on July 9. After preliminary examination, Huang confessed to the illegal facts of abusing, insulting and harassing others on the Internet for many times. At present, the case is under further investigation.

The reporter learned that article 293 of the criminal law of the people's Republic of China stipulates that those who abuse or intimidate others, if the circumstances are flagrant, will be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not more than five years, criminal detention or public surveillance.
