Original title: China Unicom closes 2G and 3G networks? Response: the mobile phone system is not supported. It is not shut down

In response to the media report on "China Unicom gradually shutting down 2G and 3G signal services", on July 3, China Unicom responded in the official wechat that the media report video showed that "customers still can't talk with 3G mobile phones" because the mobile phone system used by users does not support China Unicom's 3G system, rather than the so-called "shutting down" 2G or 3G network.

The following is the full text of China Unicom's response:

Recently, the company has noticed relevant media reports about 'China Unicom gradually shutting down 2G and 3G signal services'. The report video shows that 'customers still can't talk with 3G mobile phones' because the mobile phone system used by users does not support China Unicom 3G system, rather than the so-called' shutdown '2G or 3G network. In order to ensure the normal use of China Unicom 3G network, users should pay attention to using mobile terminals that support China Unicom 3G standard (WCDMA) and install the SIM card in the correct card slot.

At present, communication network has become the basic industry of national development. 4G mobile communication network has been fully popularized, and 5g license has been issued. Internationally, 2G network withdrawal service is the general trend, and many operators have closed 2G networks. In order to enable users to fully enjoy the consumption bonus brought by network upgrading and enjoy faster and better Internet access and call experience, China Unicom focuses on user needs and assists 2G users to upgrade to 3G and 4G networks from the following two aspects on the premise of ensuring that user communication services are not affected:

First, carry out free gift activities for experience traffic. Taking Beijing as an example, 4G experience traffic activities of up to 10Gb / month are being carried out to dispel 2G users' concerns about traffic use and let users use 3G and 4G networks at ease.

Second, carry out preferential purchase / replacement activities such as financial installment purchase and direct drop of mobile phones to minimize the threshold for 2G users to replace mobile phones. 2G users of China Unicom can choose WCDMA terminal and tariff package.
