The reporter learned from the Sichuan Provincial Department of transportation on the 29th that two cargo ships loaded with goods lifted anchor from Guangyuan City, Sichuan Province on the same day and went straight down the Jialing River into the Yangtze River channel, marking that the Jialing River was officially navigable throughout the river, and thousand ton ships can go directly to Shanghai from Guangyuan, Sichuan Province.

Jialing River is the second largest tributary of the Yangtze River. It originates from the Qinling Mountains, flows through Shaanxi Province, Gansu Province, Sichuan Province and Chongqing, and flows into the Yangtze River at Chaotianmen, Chongqing. It is the main water transport channel of the Yangtze River system and an important national war preparedness channel.

Liu Xiaoming, director of the navigation administration bureau of Sichuan Provincial Department of transportation, introduced that the Jialing River once had twists and turns, rapid flow, many dangerous beaches and reefs, poor navigation conditions and weak transportation capacity. After nearly 30 years of comprehensive development and utilization, the navigation conditions of Jialing River have been greatly improved and is gradually becoming a real national high-grade waterway and a golden waterway for waterway transportation in Sichuan Province.

"The Jialing River is the first river in the main channel of inland rivers in China. Through the implementation of cascade navigation and power hub projects, the channel mileage from Guangyuan to Chongqing has been shortened by 56.2 kilometers compared with that before channelization." Liu Xiaoming told reporters that at present, all the 14 cascade hubs in Sichuan section of Jialing River have been completed and realized normal water storage. 500 ton ships can pass through the whole year and 1000 ton ships can pass through in wet season, forming a large-scale water out of Sichuan Road from Guangyuan to Chongqing through Nanchong and Guang'an.

Liu Xiaoming said that after the implementation of the Jialing River drainage project, the bottleneck has been completely cleared. At present, when the night flight from Guangyuan to Chongqing has not been opened yet, the uplink transportation time is about 8 days, which is 40 hours shorter than the original navigation time; The downward transportation time is about 7 days, 8 hours shorter than the original navigation time.

It is reported that the cargo carried by the two cargo ships on the first voyage on that day was heavy metal mineral powder produced by a mining company in Gansu, with a total of 1000 tons. It was transported from Longnan, Gansu to Hongyan operation area of Guangyuan port by road, directly to Chongqing orchard port through Jialing River, then to sea through the Yangtze River, and finally to Liaoning Yingkou.

The reporter learned that at present, the water suitable supply of Jialing River is about 30 million tons. With the completion and operation of all industrial parks along the river and economic and social development, it is expected that the water suitable supply will reach 50 million tons in the future.

Chen Lesheng, chief engineer of Sichuan Provincial Department of transportation, said that these water suitable goods are transported by water, and the transportation cost is 1 / 5 of that of roads and 1 / 2 of that of railways. The transportation of coal, metal ores and other bulk goods along the river through the Jialing River can directly save about 100 million yuan of transportation cost throughout the year.
