After investigation, Weilai found that the battery pack used by the accident vehicle was equipped with a module with the specification and model of nevp50, and the voltage sampling harness in the module may be squeezed by the upper cover plate of the module due to individual improper direction. In extreme cases, the skin insulation material of the extruded voltage sampling harness may be worn, resulting in short circuit and potential safety hazards. Other es8 with battery safety accidents also use the same type of power battery pack.
Weilai said that from now on, a total of 4803 vehicles equipped with nevp50 module battery packs produced between April 2, 2018 and October 19, 2018 will be recalled. We will replace the battery pack with nevp102 module free of charge for all recalled vehicles to eliminate the above potential safety hazards. At the same time, all nep50 module battery packs in the battery circulation system will also be replaced. The replacement will be completed within two months.
Weilai said that the 70kwh battery packs produced after October 20, 2018 are equipped with modules with the specification and model of nep102. The internal structure of the module adopts different designs, without the above potential safety hazards.
According to the May delivery data previously released by Weilai, 17550 single models have been delivered since the formal delivery of es8 in June 2018.
