Gu Ailing was born in San Francisco on September 3, 2003. Her father is American and her mother is Chinese. Gu Ailing was taken to the ski resort by her mother when she was three months old. She began skiing at the age of 3 and won the National Junior Group skiing champion at the age of 9. She is good at freestyle skiing slope obstacle skills and U-shaped field skills. Since the 2017 / 2018 season, Gu ailing began to participate in international competitions on behalf of the U.S. team. On February 23, 2018, Gu ailing participated in FIS slope obstacle skills competition for the first time and won the fourth place. In November 2018, she participated in the FIS slope obstacle skills world cup for the first time and ranked 11th.
