What festival is the third of March of Li nationality

Li's third March Festival (the third day of the third lunar month) is the biggest folk traditional festival of Li people in Hainan Province. It is also a beautiful day for Li youth. It is also known as love festival and love talk day. Li language is called "Fu Nian Fu". It is held on the third day of the third lunar month every year. It is a traditional festival for Li people in Hainan to mourn their hardworking and brave ancestors and express their longing for love and happiness.

There are two explanations for the origin of Li's March 3 Festival:

According to the first statement, it is said that long ago, the Li nationality living together on the Bank of the Changhua River suffered a major flood, killing people and animals, leaving only a pair of brothers and sisters called Tianfei and Nanyin. After the two brothers and sisters grew up, they decided to look for partners separately and meet again at the foot of the bird's nest ridge on March 3 every year. After that, every March 3, Nanyin and empress Tianfei and their descendants will return here to welcome spring. In memory of them, the Li family called the stone cave niangmu cave, and March 3 naturally became a grand festival for the Li family.

The second theory says that it is said that a long time ago, there was a wicked crow spirit in the cave, which prevented the people from living and working in peace and contentment. One day, the crow essence caught the beautiful Li girl Aung. In March this year, Aung's sweetheart Agui went up the mountain with a sharp knife, bow and arrow to save Aung, and was killed by the crow essence. The Russian mother was very sad when she heard the news. She finally killed the crow while it was sleeping. She avenged Agui and did great harm to the Li people. Russian mother never married. Every year on March 3 of the lunar calendar, she goes to Russian Xiandong to sing the love song when she fell in love with ah GUI. Later, in order to commemorate her, the Li people named the cave Aung Dong (Changjiang).

On May 20, 2006, the third March festival of Li nationality was listed in the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage list with the approval of the State Council.

Li nationality's custom of March 3rd

On the festival day, the men, women and children of Li village came to Wuzhishan from all directions with zongzi and cakes. During the day, the boys catch fish, the girls cook and roast fish, and then place the sacrifice at the cave entrance with Tianfei and Nanyin fossils to worship their ancestors. At the same time, the young man carried a gun and arrows to the mountains and forests to find prey and dedicate the prey to his beloved girl.

When night came, young men and women lit a bonfire on the hillside and the river bank. The girls wore colorful clothes and skirts and various bracelets. The young men wore red scarves around their waist and flower umbrellas. They began to celebrate. Amid the lively music, they danced the ancient and unique bamboo pole dance, silver bell double knife dance, betel nut dance, firewood dance Hunting dance and other traditional dances with national characteristics.

Singing one after another, all night long, young men and women sit on one side and pour out their love to each other. If the two sides feel harmonious, they will give each other keepsakes. The girls tied the colorful belts woven by themselves to the young man's waist, while the young man put ear bells on the girl's ears, or inserted a hairpin made of deer bones into a Mei's bun, and met again on March 3 of the next year.

On this day, the Li people sang songs, wrestled, tug of war, shot and played swings. They used songs and dances to express their praise for life, their love for labor and their persistent pursuit of love. The atmosphere of the whole festival was cheerful, warm and intoxicating.

The Li nationality has a very broad mass base on March 3. With the changes of the times, the contents of celebration are becoming more and more diverse, but dues, folk sports, national songs and dances and wedding customs are still the most basic contents.

Bamboo pole dance of Li nationality on March 3rd

The action of bamboo pole dance is to generate load in the unique form of people's muscle activities, stimulate internal organs, improve the functional state of human cardiovascular circulatory system and respiratory system, enhance human muscle strength and joint flexibility, and improve the working ability of human body. It is a kind of body language. It is one of the best ways for people to exchange ideas and express emotions. Bamboo pole dance needs music accompaniment, which can promote people's understanding of music rhythm, harmonious movement and enhance the sense of rhythm.

In Li areas, bamboo pole dance is also called 'dancing firewood'.

"Jumping firewood" was originally an ancient sacrificial way of Li nationality. Hundreds of years ago, when the Li family got a new grain to return to the warehouse after hard farming, the men, women and children in the village would wear holiday costumes, cook new rice, brew glutinous rice wine, slaughter livestock and offer sacrifices to their ancestors and gods. After drinking and eating, people will come to the hillside, light a bonfire and dance bamboo pole dance. The sound of bamboo Ding Dong celebrates the harvest of rice and wishes a better harvest in the coming year. " Every year, from the day of spring to the Lantern Festival, bonfires are lit almost every night, jumping and dancing, and the warm atmosphere is filled with hillside villages.

With the changes of the times, the custom of "jumping firewood" has gradually spread and evolved among the Li nationality. Nowadays, its sacrificial color has gradually disappeared and has become a sports fitness activity with national cultural color. In the past, the habit of "women playing men's dance" has been replaced by "mixed men and women playing dance". Bamboo pole jumping has become a healthy activity in the "March 3" Lizhai mountain love festival. Young men and women rely on bamboo pole jumping activities to find 'partners' and enhance friendship. Small bamboo poles have built a 'magpie bridge' for young men and women.
