Lanshan has been a famous noble resort since ancient times. The red leaves of Lanshan are the most beautiful scenery in Kyoto every year. Even the emperor of Japan will visit here during the most beautiful red leaf period. Since the Ping'an era, the Japanese will see red leaves and call them 'red leaf hunting'. Elegant nobles hold the picked maple leaves in their hands to enjoy and chant, compare them to 'hunting' and take their meaning of visiting. The annual red leaf festival held here (the second Sunday of November every year) has become one of the famous autumn festivals in Kyoto.
Crossing the moon bridge across Sichuan is the most classic impression of Lanshan. Maple leaves among the green mountains are stained with the mountain scenery and reflected on the Sichuan surface, like a dream. You can also enjoy it all the way on the open old train.
