What can I do if my baby is scalded

The baby is very young and has no self-protection consciousness, so we as parents must take good care of him. What should we do in case of scald? How to deal with it~

Use the five principles of "flushing, detaching, bubbling, covering and delivering". The earlier the scald is, the better it is to wash it with cold water, and at least wash it for half an hour. Remember not to use soy sauce, toothpaste and other earthwork to smear the affected area, and apply lavender oil or scald ointment to slight scald.

1. Flushing: flushing cold water can immediately cool the skin to reduce the injury. The earlier flushing time is, the better. In addition, avoid putting ice directly on the wound to avoid tissue injury.

2. Take off: carefully remove the clothes after fully soaking, and use scissors to cut the clothes.

3. Bubble: continue to soak in cold water to reduce the pain. If it's a baby, don't soak for too long to avoid shock caused by excessive temperature drop. When the baby's consciousness is not clear, immediately send to a doctor and don't bubble again.

4. Cover: cover the injury with clean or sterile gauze, cloth strip or cotton clothing (excluding wool) and fix it.

5. Delivery: sent to a medical hospital with a burn ward or burn center for treatment.

Special reminder

1. It is best to wash cold water for slight scald

First of all, parents should keep calm, blister immediately after burn and obvious pain, which belongs to shallow burn. For small area burns, you can immediately wash the injured area under the tap for 10 minutes to half an hour. Early cold water treatment has great benefits for wound healing, first, it can reduce pain; second, it can reduce deep tissue damage caused by edema and residual heat; third, it can reduce toxic substances in wound. Some parents like to smear Wanhua oil, soy sauce, toothpaste and other things on the wound. In fact, oily things only reduce the pain in the early stage (the effect is not as good as tap water), not to reduce the injury, but instead will pollute, stimulate the wound and deepen the injury.

2. Head burns can be fatal

"Head, face and mouth burns, no matter how large or small, should be sent to the hospital immediately!" for large-scale burns, which may cause shock and wound infection, if not handled properly, it is fatal, and should be sent to the hospital immediately. Before going to the hospital, clean towels and sheets can be used to cover the scalded parts, and some light salt water can be given to the injured to reduce the degree of shock.

It needs to be specially reminded that the area of injury is not necessarily large for special parts such as head, face and neck burns, but the facial tissue itself is relatively loose, and the blood supply is abundant. When scalding, it often causes the swelling of the face and neck to be particularly severe, which compresses the airway and suffocates people when the pressure reaches a certain degree. Therefore, the scald of these parts, no matter how big or small, should be sent to the hospital for treatment immediately.
