The top ten archaeological discoveries in 2016 will be announced in Beijing on April 12. Prior to this, the preliminary evaluation results of the top ten new archaeological discoveries in 2016 were published on March 9. It is reported that 213 votes were issued and 185 valid votes were received by the selection office. According to the voting results, the top 25 were shortlisted for the final evaluation. Among them, 179 votes were obtained for the first project, and 91 votes were obtained for the 25th project.

Archaeology 'big test' and 'Big Five' won

The shortlisted 25 archaeological discoveries come from 20 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the central government. Shaanxi, Hunan, Shanxi, Xinjiang and Anhui were all shortlisted. Compared with previous years, the sites are more balanced in terms of region and age, and the types of sites are more diversified with the following highlights.
