Do you know how dirty your towel is?

You may not know how many bacteria are on the towel you usually use. Today, let's have a look. Where do these bacteria come from?

The colony of new towel is on the order of 100, and that of 3-month-old towel is on the order of 10000; while that of 6-month-old towel is almost full of colony, which is estimated to be on the order of one million; and that of 2-year-old towel is beyond counting.

Clothes are worn every day and people change them every day. But the towel is also used every day, but the frequency of washing is greatly reduced - the reason is very simple, we think: washing your face with it is not the same as washing the towel.

Many people buy a towel and use it until it's rotten. Every time they use it, they hang it up in the bathroom. They don't clean it once a few months or even half a year. But you know how dirty this towel is?!

In fact, the number of bacteria in a towel can reach one million in half a year

The people's Hospital of Peking University once conducted an experiment: the new towel, the towel used for 3 months and the towel used for more than 6 months were cultured for bacteria respectively. According to China's relevant towel standards, the total number of bacteria in towel should not exceed 200 per square centimeter. From the experimental results, only one towel that has been used for less than a month has reached this standard, while the detection results of other towels are surprising.

Among them, in terms of per square centimeter, the colony of a new towel is on the order of 100, and that of a three-month towel is on the order of 10000; while for a towel that has been used for six months, the Petri dish is almost covered with colonies, which is estimated to be on the order of one million; while for a towel that has been used for two years, the bacteria on it can no longer be counted. From this point of view, the number of bacteria in all towels used for more than three months has greatly exceeded the standard.

The common bacteria include Staphylococcus aureus, Candida albicans, Escherichia coli, etc., which can cause skin itching, long spots, pneumonia, sepsis, etc. Escherichia coli is originally the normal flora of human intestinal tract, but if it invades the wound, it may also cause infection.

However, nearly seven adults in China do not use towels properly

China Home Textile Association once conducted a survey on towel use habits in five cities. The results showed that 65% of the respondents did not know the correct way to use the towel, and 35% of the respondents sometimes had slight itching on their face, but they did not know it might be caused by the towel. Moreover, due to the restriction of living habits (of course, it was also affected by economic and production conditions in the past), the consumption level of towel in China has been at a low level, only 1.2 towel per capita per year. In contrast, Japan's towel consumption is six times that of China, and Europe and America's is seven times that of China.

In fact, in developed countries, the towel is not only a bath tool, but also reflects people's pursuit of quality of life. In their bathroom, there will be five or six or even a dozen towels hanging neatly. Each family member has his own special towel, and wash his face, hands, feet, clearly.

It is the right way to use different towels to scrub different parts of the human body. This is to prevent the normal flora of one part from entering another part and causing diseases.

However, in addition to the towel to be used separately, but also often change often sterilization

There are three main reasons why the towel has become a place to hide the filth

① Towel is mostly cotton fabric, can store a lot of water, and humidity is the most important condition for the survival of bacteria.

② Towel often placed in a humid environment, lack of direct sunlight, and to create a good condition for bacterial growth.

③ The special structure of the towel makes it easy to be stained with dirty things. All kinds of grease, dander, dust, sweat and so on accumulate on it. If it is not cleaned regularly, bacteria will multiply.

Therefore, the towel must be washed and dried every day, and cleaned once a week (soaked in detergent or white vinegar or salt). This can inhibit the growth of bacteria, but the bactericidal effect is not so good

Microwave disinfection: soak the towel and put it in the fresh-keeping box. Then put the box in the microwave oven and bake it for 3 to 5 minutes.

Chemical disinfection method: you can buy special disinfectant and disinfectant, add appropriate amount of disinfectant into hot water and put it into towel, soak it for about 15 minutes, then wash it with clean water, and use it after drying.

Cooking towel disinfection method: it is recommended to use a pressure cooker, which is clean and free of oil stains. Put the towel into the pot, add water to the towel, add a little salt, and cook it over high heat. When you feel the water boiling for a few minutes, turn down the heat, continue to cook for 15 minutes, and then wait until it cools down and dry.

Generally speaking, the towel is a fiber fabric. Even if it is washed frequently, it will turn yellow and dry after a long time, and the effect is not as good as before. Therefore, it is recommended that you change it every three months or half a year.
