Why can't you jump off a building when you meet a fire house?

Many people were killed in the fire. They were either burned or choked by the fire, or they were forced to jump from the building without escape~

Fire is known as the "toothless tiger", which can make people deeply in fear and lose their correct judgment, and then make some extreme defensive self-help behavior. Jumping off a building rashly is one of the extreme ways.

Disaster relief experts tell us that when encountering high-rise building fire, especially in the early stage, there are many safer and correct ways to escape than jumping off a building. At the beginning of the fire, when the fire is still small, use fire extinguisher and fire-fighting facilities to put out the fire at the first time, and call 119 in time. If you can't call the police, you can shout for help or throw soft signals such as sofa cushions, pillows and clothes downstairs from the balcony or the window facing the street to send out a call for help, so as to attract the attention of the people downstairs and help to call the police.

If it is found that the fire in the building is difficult to control, it should be evacuated as soon as possible. Touch the door lock before opening the door. At this time, all doors and windows should be closed or the door should be sealed with a towel if the temperature is high. When there is an opportunity to escape from the fire, smoke proof staircases, enclosed staircases, corridors with external windows, indoor descent devices, life-saving bags, safety ropes and other facilities should be used to keep away from the fire. If you can't leave the fire site in time, you can also choose to enter the refuge layer (room) to escape and wait for rescue.

In the case of not being rescued in time and living in a high-rise building, jumping is not the best choice. When the floor of the trapped person is less than three floors, the sheets, quilts, curtains and other fabrics in the room can be torn into pieces of cloth that can be loaded to form ropes, which can be wetted with water, tied on the windowsill, balcony or indoor load-bearing fixed components to slide downstairs, and can also be used to climb downstairs with doors, windows, balconies, row pipes, etc. When the trapped people are above the third floor, they should try every means to move to the lower floor, and then find a way to escape from the fire.
