The Ewenki people with religious significance are the omenaren society

The omenaren Festival is a traditional festival of the Ewenki people. " The omenaren meeting ', a grand religious activity and entertainment festival in the pastoral area, is generally held in August.

Activity process of omenaren meeting

The Ewenki nationality, distributed in Hulunbuir League and other places in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, celebrate the 'omenaren' festival in April of the lunar calendar every year, also known as the 'April meeting'. It is mainly the old shaman (wizard) who learns the new shaman and prays for the peace and prosperity of the clan. At that time, we will jump at the old Shaman's house. The whole clan will send a sheep to be robbed by two shamans. The winner will kill the sheep. The shaman will walk around the crowd with a bloody sheep heart, and the new shaman will make a bird flying posture to follow. At this time, the old shaman turned and squeezed the sheep's hard work into the new Shaman's mouth. The latter spit the blood on two trees, and then they shared the mutton, and the sheepskin was taken away by the old shaman. After three years of experience like this, the new shaman can jump to the gods and expel ghosts and cure diseases independently.

During the festival, the shaman also gathered the men, women and children of the whole clan, surrounded them with roe deer neck skin as a rope, and predicted the increase or decrease of the clan population in the future with the remaining length of the rope.

'omenaren' is an important festival for cultivating new shamans in Shamanism. It is generally held in August in Ewenki pastoral area (chenbalhu banner). At that time, the shamans, led by a shaman wearing a mask and a robe, came to each yurt and circled three times from east to west. The host family sprinkled milk and yogurt on them at the same time until the shamans entered the yurt and circled the fire three times. The herdsmen prepared food and utensils for the Dharma Council. Everyone gathered outside the yurt where the shaman lived, formed several circles, sang and danced, followed day and night, and had fun. Shamans who have participated in the omenaren Festival can add a six fork antler to the Dharma hat. After each participation, they will add two more forks to the antlers until there are 12 forks. The more you participate in the Dharma, the higher the Shaman's level.
