What kind of love does the Bai People's butterfly Festival witness
Legend is a folk festival to commemorate the faithful love of Xia Lang and Wen Gu, young men and women of Bai nationality. It is said that in ancient times, there lived a Bai family near the butterfly spring at the foot of yunnong peak in Cangshan, Dali. There were three parents and daughters. The daughter was named Wengu. The family lived on firewood. Her daughter Wengu met and fell in love with xialang, a young Bai hunter in Yuju peak. Later, Yu Wang, the hereditary Lord of Yucheng, admired the beauty and talents of aunt Wen, killed her parents and robbed her into the palace. Aunt Wen refused and was locked in the palace. Xialang risked his life and climbed over the wall into the palace late at night to rescue aunt Wen. She rode a young deer and fled to the butterfly spring. Houyu Wang's thugs also chased the butterfly spring. Xialang and Wen had no way to escape, so they hugged each other and jumped into the spring. Later, a pair of colored butterflies flew out of the spring and perched on the ancient acacia tree beside the butterfly spring. Colored butterflies from all directions flew to pay tribute, connected end to end, and hung straight from the tree into the spring to form a spectacle. This day is April 15 of the lunar calendar. The surrounding Bai people came to watch, so there was the annual butterfly meeting.
