British fishermen have caught a giant crab weighing about 4kg, which can crush people's wrists

A local fisherman in Portsmouth, UK, caught a giant crab with a body width of 30cm and a weight of more than 4kg in the English Channel. The claws of this crab are so powerful that they can even crush a person's wrist.

The crab was caught by a local fisherman off the coast of Portsmouth and was nicknamed 'Popeye' because of its particularly strong claws. With 90 pounds per square inch, the claws are four times as powerful as a human hand and can easily tear up prey. The crab was captured eight months ago when a photo showed a giant crab, more than 15 meters wide, lurking underwater in the port of Whitstable in Kent.

Now Popeye has been donated to the aquarium by the unnamed fisherman. Martyn Chandler, an aquarium administrator, said: 'these crabs look like beautiful specimens, but when you see their fist sized pincers, you're scared. It's a pity to think that this impressive crab will eventually become a human lunch. 'Chandler also said they are currently keeping Popeye in the quarantine area, but will settle down for Popeye in the next few days. Popeye will be properly cared for, and while no one is sure how long a crab will live, it should last at least decades. So Popeye can enjoy his old age.

Eating crabs is very common in British waters. Adult edible crabs can weigh up to 3 kg and the width of hard shell is 25 cm. Popeye is one of the largest edible crabs ever discovered. This crab can live for 30 years, and some can live up to 100 years. The largest known crab species in the world is the Japanese spider crab, up to 3.6 meters in length. The crab found at Whitesburg may be the largest crustacean found in British waters. It's just that many people think it might be just a sandbank or a prank. An online image shows a giant crab lurking underwater at Whitesburg harbor in Kent, but many people think it's a prank.
