Because the interval between the two full moons is about 29.53 days, and in the Gregorian calendar, except February, each big month is 31 days, and the small month is 30 days, so there may be two full moons in a Gregorian calendar month. When there are two full moon nights in a month, the second full moon is given a poetic name: 'blue moon'.
In fact, 'blue moon' is not uncommon. It appears every 2.4 years on average. Some years don't, some years will have twice. For example, there are two times this year, one in January and one in March. The first full moon in March occurred on the 2nd, and the second on the 31st.
According to the Zhejiang Weather Network on March 30, it is estimated that cloudy weather will continue to dominate our province in the next three to five days. Astronomical experts warned that if the weather is fine on the evening of the 31st, the public who are interested can go outdoors to see the full moon.
It is understood that the next 'blue moon' astronomical phenomenon will appear in October 2020.
