According to the Chinese Embassy in Japan, in the early morning of 18th, a Panamanian cargo ship collided with a Korean cargo ship 8 kilometers southeast of the Bay in Sanpu City, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. The Panamanian cargo ship sank with 20 Chinese crew members on board. With the help of Japan, 11 people were rescued and 9 others were missing.

After hearing the news, the Chinese Embassy in Japan immediately activated the emergency mechanism and maintained close contact with Japan, demanding that it continue to make full efforts to search for the missing persons and properly arrange the rescued crew members.
